About the role: The role of Associate Director, R&D will manage a team and have responsibility of overseeing the Research and Early Development organization.
Strategic partner to the PMLs to create robust annual budgets and reforecasts including providing guidance and quantifying implications of business decisions
Identify key drivers and underlying causes of variances and provide recommendations to manage such variances to management
Partner with stakeholders to prioritize and eliminate spend to achieve budget/forecast targets and drive financial discipline
Collaborate with R&ED organization and Program teams to create and maintain assumptions and inputs to the Long-Range Plan (LRP)
Provide finance support to stakeholders across development to build business cases to accurately value the global portfolio including strategic fit, costs, and timing
Support development of new tools, systems, processes to improve the visibility of the valuation of our R&D pipeline
Support annual budgeting processes to ensure they tie to the portfolio strategy
Participate in vendor identification, RFPs, vendor selection, budget and contract negotiations
Provide monthly financial package to the R&ED LT illustrating the financial performance versus budget for all internal projects
Lead monthly budget review and reforecast meetings with R&ED LT
Participate in establishing departmental and cross-functional policies and procedures
Partner with our accounting team to provide monthly accrual estimate
Provide ad hoc analysis and support related to the organization and the programs
Provide bridge commentary for actuals to plan variances
Complete Quarter-end and Year-end deliverables including YoY and QoQ analysis
Demonstrates strong understanding of issues pertinent to early development
Assist in vendor proposal and contract review; particularly by reviewing and approving financial sections of contracts
Demonstrate ability to interact on an advanced level with procurement and stakeholders to provide oversight of vendor budgets and related contractual terms
Excellent stakeholder management skills
Demonstrate ability to help shape and influence global strategies
Ability to challenge business assumptions and communicate complex business and finance data to generate decision making
