POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:


 

The Sr. Production Supervisor is an experienced supervisor and SME in area of responsibility. This position is responsible for meeting and exceeding production objectives and for complete adherence to company and regulatory procedures and requirements. This position will help promote a safe, high quality team atmosphere, and the overall corporate image of excellence through a strong work ethic and solid leadership. This position will train and develop direct reports to maximize efficiencies and manufacture a quality product in a safe cGMP environment – “making the World healthier & happier.” This fast-pace position requires the ability to plan, multi-task and execute daily.


 

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 


 
Sr. Supervisor Responsibilities:


  • SME of equipment or process in areas of responsibility, including EBR, oracle, and inventory transactions.

  • Skilled at working with team to maximize productivity in the plant. Helps establish work practices, operating procedures and work instructions to improve overall performance and efficiency of the plant.

  • Good overall working knowledge of the entire plant operations, not just in area of responsibility.

  • Proven and demonstrated understanding of production KPIs.  Is an active participate in weekly meetings & provides recommendations on how to improve on a consistent basis.

  • A high level of knowledge of safety policies and procedures. Works closely with the safety department to identify and correct safety issues and develop and revise LOTO and JSAs.


  • Demonstrates a high level of understanding of all quality requirements.  Identifies and corrects quality issues through root cause analysis.

  • Develops training programs for direct reports to assure enhancement of their competencies.

  • Communicate clearly and accurately (both written and verbal) in Build it Better meetings, primary and secondary pass downs, planning meetings, during staff meetings, and provides feedback to all other shifts and departments to ensure efficiency and quality throughout the plant.

  • Skilled at identifying, designing, & leading continuous improvement projects and has successfully led and implemented several successful continuous improvement projects.

  • Promotes a team atmosphere, and the overall corporate image of excellence through a strong work ethic and solid leadership.  Leads by example.

  • Conducts continuous follow-up on floor procedures and practices, re-directing team and provides additional training when necessary.

  • Creates “A Great Place to Work” culture within team and through interactions with other departments and personnel. Creates a positive, inclusive team atmosphere.

  • Evaluates shift to ensure capabilities exist to produce the required products.  Provides recommendations to manager.

  • Capable of filling in for manager during his/her absence.

  • Actively promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring the safety of personnel and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.  Establishes “Safety First” culture within the production department and routinely checks to ensure compliance to all established safe practices. 

  • Reviews and inspects equipment and conducts safety meetings.

  • Responsible for personnel development; training, supervising, directing and motivating manufacturing personnel to achieve short- and long-term departmental objectives

  • Problem solves / troubleshoots production issues and recommends / implements changes to guarantee food safety while maximizing production yields and equipment efficiencies – “We always do what’s right”.

  • Ensure staff is properly trained and competent in all technical aspects of their positions

  • Ensure proper inventory control procedures are being followed for issuing components and materials to work orders. Work with Warehouse and Inventory Control for any inventory corrections or inventory accuracy improvements.

  • Inspect and monitor to ensure Electronic Batch Record, Oracle, and equipment log books, and other relevant logs or records are current during all stages of production.

  • Establish staffing guidelines and distribute workload to deliver maximum results

  • Maintain two-way dialogue with direct reports regarding both task and result

  • Provides direct reports with leadership, direction, and one on one coaching to further develop and improve staff individually, and as a group.

  • Communicate both company and departmental goals and objectives assuring that these are clearly understood by the shift

  • Complete and maintain all necessary documentation including applicable cGMP documents

  • Work with Maintenance, Quality Control and other departments as needed in order to ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, Quality and cGMP Standards

  • Administer company policies regarding attendance, conduct, performance, quality, safety and teamwork

  • Interacts with Quality, Planning, Sanitation, and Maintenance daily to assure production schedules are met or exceeded

  • Assist Production Manager with planning, man power requirements, and training needs

  • Lead continuous improvement effort within department utilizing Lean, 5s, autonomous maintenance, and TPM methods to make improvements.   Works with Production Manager to develop a lean culture within department to continuously review processes to eliminate waste and make improvements

  • Identifies, designs, and leads Lean Manufacturing projects and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization – “We build it better”.

  • Develop, revise and document departmental standard operational procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and expectations

  • Develop a team work approach with the Production Team and between all departments within the plant.  Lead by example – “We work together.” 

  • Accountable for shift results and ensure all shift reporting is correct and accurate.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety rules and regulations. Ensure all personnel follow GMPs, safety procedures and written SOPs.

  • Work overtime including weekends as necessary

  • Assist Production Manager with any other duties needed in the daily operation of the plant.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Skills:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written

  • Coaching and mentoring skills - development of team

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) and Outlook proficiency

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs

  • Certification: Lean Manufacturing; Project Management (PMP); Six Sigma (Green/Black belt); &/or equivalent Leadership/management training

  • FSMA training or PQCI certification

  • Better Process Control School (or successfully complete within 90 days of hire)

  • Safety experience or experience working on a safety committee

 

Experience:       


  • 5+ years combined leadership experience in a production environment (2 years as a Supervisor) OR leadership experience while serving in one of the branches of the US military

  • 1+ year of experience in an FDA/cGMP  OR experience in one of the branches of the US military OR experience in a regulated environment

 

Education:


  • Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 


  • Manufacturing experience in a multi-shift facility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other related technical field
