Position Summary: Plan and control the flow of purchased parts from the MHSE suppliers through the Production Value Stream.


  • Ensure parts are received in the quantity required, when needed. Proactively and reactively manage and expedite component part shortages by identifying issues and internal problems.

  • Control number of days of inventory on hand by analyzing lot sizes, replenishment and shipping frequency, etc.

  • Evaluate material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of materials timed to meet production/customer requirements

  • Evaluate material availability and identify potential production problems for in process assemblies

  • Confirm material supply demand based on shop load and inventory requirements

  • Summarize inventory shortage impacts for assemblies and end items that will be or are released to the production floor

  • Elevate supplier constraints to Strategic Sourcing

  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities with quality, manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering

  • Propose solutions to mitigate any work stoppage the factory teams may experience due to any slips in material orders

  • Interface with internal customers

  • Participates in projects and or teams to accomplish continuous improvement

  • Plan and organize space requirements for responsible commodities.

  • Ensure Inventory integrity strategy for each purchased material

  • Analyzes existing inventory velocity/potential obsolete risk

  • Ability to solve problems and make effective decision in a fast pace environment.

  • Ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks.

  • Provides daily/weekly/monthly reporting and metrics

  • Provide material replenishment strategy to each component of Value Stream


  • Familiar ERP systems, IQMS a plus

  • Preferred 4 year degree in Supply Chain Management or 3 years equivalent experience

  • Exposure to Lean principles, including 5S, Visual Management, continuous improvement, and pull systems

  • Supply Chain/Manufacturing/Inventory Control experience

  • Experience reading and evaluating lists of parts required for production work and working with a production planning system

  • Effective communication up and down the organization

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Applications (Excel, Word, etc)

  • Documenting and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures

  • Initiate and analyze reporting to monitor and improve operations
