The Forklift Operator is responsible for using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment to load, unload, move, stack, stage and count pallets and materials. Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving and storing as required. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards and company safety procedures using Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times while performing job duties.
Move levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
Pull and prepare pallets for shipment as scheduled.
Maintain the facilitys equipment and materials in a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
Unload and load shipments safely.
Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
Move, stack and store pallets efficiently in the appropriate areas as required.
Inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment on a daily basis.
Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
Report quality variances and ensure proper stock rotation.
Keep records and reports to ensure accurate inventory control and security are maintained.
Assist in physical inventories.
Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch and transports load to designated area.
Supplies workers with materials, as needed.
Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or productions schedules.
Loads or unloads material onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
Perform daily equipment checks which may involve lubricating truck, recharging batteries, filling fuel tank, or replacing liquefied gas tank. Report any issues to appropriate management for resolution.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED
1-2 years of experience maneuvering single and/or double forks forklifts.
Basic Math skills required.
Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch as needed.
Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements.
Able to lift up to 100 pounds as needed.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
The work environment consists of occasional extreme temperature shifts ranging from very cold to very hot.
Exposure to dust and loud noise (hearing protection is provided)
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moving forklifts
