Expertise in healthcare compliance: knowledge of privacy and security regulations, confidentiality, laws, access and release of information practices

Maintain professional relationships with state and national organizations to gain insight and understanding of future trends, regulations, etc

14.

Develops and implements health record policies and procedures to comply with state and federal regulations for Hospital, and physician office requirements.  Stays abreast of changing regulations from CMS, CDOH and other regulatory partners.

15.

Performs leadership functions, including selection, scheduling, training, performance management and discipline and evaluating Health Records Services staff.  Instilling passion in assigned staff.

16.

Responsible for determining and presenting proposed department budget and estimated expenditures.

17.

Is a resource to the facility, medical staff, patients, and residents for health records questions and records concerns.. 

18.

Ensures that information systems support current and future needs of the department. Works closely with information technology in transition planning including, but not limited to, testing, installation and education of staff to produce, and maintain high quality data

19.

Supervises majority of all Release of Information services for facility and Physician Services to persons and agencies according to regulations.

20.

Formulates long and short-term goals for the HIM Department.  Integrates new developments when practical and cost effective.

21.

Participates on various facility committees.  Serves as a liaison for internal teams.  Makes efficient use of work time to accomplish assignments as well as the ability to accept or respond to change in the work environment in a way that promotes the organization’s goals and objectives.

22.

Interacts and cooperates with physicians, management personnel and representatives of external agencies and clients.

Participates in the monitoring, evaluating, educating, and improving the quality of health information

Directs staff training related to patient privacy and HIPAA Compliance; initial as well as provide refresher training.

25.

Has a knowledge and understanding of the organizations internal and external customer needs and is committed to meeting or exceeding those expectations.

26.

Prepares records for variety of internal and external audits.

27.

Motivates and empowers staff in the successful performance of their tasks and responsibilities to support the organizational needs and encourages innovation

28.

Administers and maintains the user portion of the document scanning program (Paper Vision).

29.

Organizes quarterly review of billing and medical records for compliance.

30.

Supports payroll functions.

31.

Conducts department inventory and orders supplies as needed.

32.

Supervises the Health Records Services Staff. Day-to-day activities, establishes work schedules and assignments.

33.

Maintains departmental day-to-day record completion, storage and retrieval.

34.

Conducts on-going training and evaluation of departmental staff.

35.

Ensures department employees are accountable and adhere to all FHW policies and procedures, governmental laws and regulatory standards.

36.

Conduct random audits of medical charts at regular intervals to determine the completeness of the medical record.

37.

Participates in organizational planning and implementation of departmental programs and projects to meet the organizational objectives. 

38.

Anticipate and react appropriately to changes in resources, priorities while maintaining organizational structure sufficient to meet goals and objectives and maintain procedures and guidelines to ensure efficient and legally compliant operations.

39.

Oversees the completion and quality of patient charts and records and performs regular audits, taking corrective actions when necessary

40.

Develops patient focused record flow and control systems and processes while analyzing, implementing and reviewing quality control measures.

41.

Works with the CFO and the Director of Finance and Executive team to develop and implement operation and capital budget plans.

42.

Other job related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:


















1.

Education

Bachelors’ Degree with RHIA or Associates Degree with RHIT.

2.

Licenses

No professional license required.

3.

Certifications

RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT certification from an accredited program, an ART (Accredited Record Technician) or RRA (Registered Record Administrator) required.

4.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a healthcare supervisory role, Supervisory experience in Health Information Management Services required.

WAGE RANGE: $27.50-$37.75
