Accounts Receivable Specialist

Position type and expected hours of work: Full time position, typically Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with an hour lunch break. Overtime occasionally necessary.

Summary: Position supports the accounts receivable department in collections, billing, and other AR functions.

Essential functions:

  • Apply daily cash deposit to appropriate accounts in a timely manner and research all discrepancies

  • Analyze aging reports, solicit payments from clients with past due balances through direct contact via telephone, email, mail and maintain consistent follow-up.

  • Complete customer credit applications.

  • Respond timely to all customer inquiries via telephone, email, or fax.

  • Maintain compliance with the Credit and Collection policy.

  • Develop and foster relationships with customers.

  • Work with Sales, Billing, and customers to facilitate the resolution of discrepancies caused by over, short, or non-payment of invoices.

  • Ensure timely application of billing adjustments related to invoicing inaccuracies.

  • Collaborate with management on all bankruptcy filings.

  • Represent A/R department in cross functional meetings, projects, and processes.

  • Produce high quality, high volume work with minimal supervision.

Competency: Understanding of the full accounts receivable process, general knowledge regarding the general ledger and the relationship between AR/AP. Strong written and oral communication skills, detail oriented, accurate, flexible, dependable and a team player. Willingness to establish and maintain positive working relations. Ability to multitask and work with limited supervision.

Work environment: Position requires the employee to work inside in the office.

Physical demands: The position primarily requires sitting, typing and viewing a computer. Other less frequent physical demands include bending and lifting.

Travel: No travel is expected for this position.

Preferred education and experience: High school diploma required. Prefer college graduate with 3+ years’ experience,
