Transportation Compliance Specialist

Position Snapshot

The Transportation Compliance Specialist coordinates activities related to the company's regulatory compliance and safety programs specific to the environmental waste industry. Develops and implements strategies to achieve and exceed company goals and expectations to reduce vehicle compliance violations. Additional duties may also be related to be tailored to one or more specialties at the direction of the manager; examples of common specialties include, but are not limited to: environmental compliance, health and safety compliance, transportation safety and compliance, laboratory compliance, waste approvals and regulatory affairs.

Day in the Life

After booting up your computer and grabbing your favorite morning beverage, you can expect to:

  • Follow up on outstanding tasks, emails and requests

  • Ensure training files are maintained to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations and company policies

  • Validates regulatory qualifications of employees

  • Act as a resource for former employees who fall under the purview of regulatory compliance and safety

  • Assists with vendor compliance approval processes

  • Coordinates reporting and tax/fee payments

  • Works with State regulatory agencies to renew permits and other licenses

  • Audits Hours of Service compliance of our drivers

  • Ensure training files are maintained to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations and company policies

  • Investigates, reports, maintains and cooperates with insurance adjustors regarding injury and collision claims

What you need to apply

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience performing administrative functions related to regulatory compliance and safety

  • Ability to analyze and interpret governmental regulations, and to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries.

  • Knowledge of the MS Office Suite with proficiency using Excel and SharePoint.
