Global Small Business Organization: The Global Small Business Organization - a division of Merchant Services -- is an innovative leader in serving Small Business clients through banking, payments and lending products and services. Role Summary:

The Marketing Department plays a vital role in promoting the business and mission of our organization. It serves as the face of the company, coordinating and producing all materials representing the business. It is the marketing department's job to create an overarching image that shows our company in a positive light. This department defines and manages the brand, drives customer acquisition, engagement, and retention, conducts customer and market research, produces marketing and promotional materials, serves as media liaison, creates content, executes paid search and search engine optimization for our website(s), monitors and manages social media channels, oversees external vendors and agencies, and measures the impact and effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

Marketing strategists develop strategies to align with business objectives and provide thought leadership to drive brand awareness/consideration, new customer growth, engagement and loyalty to meet overall business goals across their lifecycle. Demonstrating deep understanding of client segments and needs, marketing strategists drive, optimize and/or support marketing efforts for client campaigns and collaborate with multifunctional teams to execute them.

This is a newly created role whose focus will be to identify opportunities for meaningful growth across our SMB acquisition and engagement efforts. The ideal candidate will have a highly experimental and entrepreneurial mindset, and will be comfortable being self-guided while operating in a whitespace environment. This role will also own our SEO strategy.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Analyze customer insights, industry trends, campaign performance, and other data to identify opportunities for growth experiments that will improve acquisition, conversion, activation and other key growth metrics across channels (web, digital ads, email, direct response, in-branch, etc.)
  • Design growth experiments, including developing business cases, setting up test designs, drafting creative briefs, and working with Centers of Excellence (COEs) and other partners to execute on those experiments
  • Track and report on experiment performance with support from analytics resources; make adjustments as necessary
  • Support transition of successful experiments into BAU programs across acquisition and engagement efforts
  • Lead our SEO strategy by partnering with our SEO agency and COE, plus website team and content providers to; ensure we have a clear roadmap to achieve our organic search goals and oversee the execution against the roadmap
  • Keep leadership team and other stakeholders informed on our progress against SEO goals and strategies
  • Strike the perfect balance between running at something big as an individual and being a good partner to peers and stakeholders as a collaborative member of the team

Additional requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Analytics, or Computer Science, or similar field
  • 7+ years of marketing, web, and/or product experience
  • Experience with SEO and content marketing
  • Strong understanding of website UI/UX, conversion optimization, and web experimentation best practices
  • Up to date on the latest digital marketing capabilities, such as personalization and machine learning
  • Highly analytical and comfortable analyzing complex data. Hands on analytics experience a plus
  • Experienced with key marketing channels - email, paid search, affiliate, direct mail, and web
  • Has strong understanding of growth marketing concepts and experimentation best practices
  • Payments / financial services industry experience a plus
  • Develops strong partnerships; leads through collaboration; recognized as a team player
  • Proven ability to take initiative, influence others and achieve results
  • Skilled and comfortable at working in a highly matrixed organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Understands customer journeys, can hone in on points of friction, and experienced in using customer insights to develop performing programs and experiments
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
  • Basic design capabilities a plus
