What you will do:

The Connected Enterprise portfolio of offerings within Digital Solutions enables our customers to monitor and optimize their building performance and enable a transformative facility management and occupant experience that truly delivers on the promise of Smart Buildings. These offerings are currently delivered through several edge and cloud-based applications that leverage capabilities of our OpenBlue platform.

Join our team as a Technical Product Manager to be part of the core team that will deliver a strong integrated suite of end to end offerings enabling a smart building experience that help our customers meet their goals for Sustainability, Tenant Experience, Operations and Equipment Efficiency and Space Performance. You will play a lead role as part of a core team that designs and implements a strong product roadmap and implementation plan to evolve our offerings with reliable and scalable integration with OpenBlue Cloud and Edge. You will take on increasing level of expanding scope of product management and customer adoption capabilities by being responsible for leading an agile organization to create, drive and own the functional product requirements, integration needs, and follow Agile Product Management process from development phase through market launch working closely with Business Unit product leaders, end-customers, platform software development, Digital Solution business leaders, and various functional business unit stakeholders.

 This role requires:

  • Ability to build on product vision and roadmap to deliver a highly successful product and solution framework for customers

  • Ability to lead a global team of senior and high performing technical resources who are well versed with Cloud and IOT based applications

  • Ability to take an independent and informed view of the current architecture, and be able to review and prioritize opportunities and improvement areas with the respective technical architects, engineering managers and technical leads

  • Ability to build a strong working relationship and collaborate effectively with current platform and application development teams and associated DevOps & ProdOps support

  • Understanding and deep interest in smart building technologies, cloud and IOT

  • Deep technical knowledge of software methodologies and techniques, preferably with Microsoft technologies and tools

  • Experience in software technologies which integrate multiple systems using industry-wide software standards

  • Solid experience in defining technical needs of complex applications and programs working with diverse, multi-disciplined project teams. Up to 10% domestic and international travel when required.

How you will do it:

  • Lead evolution of the Product Roadmap based on customer feedback, market analysis, competitive research, strategic priorities, and infrastructure/architecture needs

  • Partner with Global Business Development and Sales teams, Customer Success, Marketing, CX/UX and peer Product Managers to capture and prioritize product needs

  • Communicate product vision to senior leadership and contribute to major corporate initiatives as part of a workgroup

  • Take high-level technical and product concepts and drive them through the evaluation and exploration of potential solutions

  • Manage customer life cycle, enable adoption, and realization of measurable customer value

  • Define and report on success metrics for product features and customer value generated

  • Manage front-end phase with ambiguous definitions and multiple directions, while managing technical risk and uncertainty

  • Work with stakeholders from OpenBlue ecosystem, product application teams, DevOps, ProdOps, product management and engineering leadership to converge on a strategy for identifying architectural changes, implementation plan, staged deployments, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment

  • Actively lead and participate in planning and design of the integrated solution, with consideration for hosting strategies and costs, deployment of the integrated solution for customers based across the globe and the ability to enable/disable services based on flexible business models around subscription based pricing, outcome based pricing and facility attributes

  • Work with Customer Success and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to understand customer commitments and revenue opportunities when planning development schedules, architecture transition and production deployments

  • As a SME, contribute to the pre-sales process through technical scoping, solution design and engage with customers when required

  • Report and review the progress of project innovation milestones with the stakeholders; formalize communication plan to ensure timely, accurate information and updates are provided to appropriate stakeholders

  • Enhance team excellence and raise the Innovation bar by accepting ownership for accomplishing new, challenging, and diverse requests, and by continually exploring opportunities to increase the value of JCI products to existing and new customers

Qualifications - External

Qualifications that we look for:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field

  • At least 12 years’ experience using various development technologies to deliver agile software-based projects in a product development or IT organization

  • Strong understanding and application of IOT concepts, cloud architecture, micro services design, APIs, AI driven analytics, digital twins

  • Experience in leading a Cloud application or platform product team, with direct ownership or close coordination with the DevOps organization

  • Experience in building apps on a cloud based commercial IOT platform such as Azure, AWS, GCP, Ayla, PTC, GE or similar

  • Familiarity with HVAC concepts in commercial environments is a plus

  • Experience in defining requirements for highly reliable and scalable systems that can support big data volumes with thousands of users

  • Experience motivating, organizing, and leading teams from concept definition phase through deployment readiness

  • Strong consensus building, conflict resolution, and persuasive skills

  • Excellent analytical, logical and project management skills. High level of personal credibility at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in changing communication style based on audience (technical, non-technical, executive through individual contributor)

  • Ability to manage multiple, potentially changing priorities and effectively coordinate activities across teams

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and top-notch problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing individuals and teams without formal organizational control

Relevant Technologies/Expertise:

  • Microsoft VSO, .NET core, Azure PaaS, IoT Hub, Event Hub, Spark, SQL server, Snowflake, Java script

  • Pricing models for SaaS subscription-based solutions and bundled packages

  • Project planning and scheduling tools like Microsoft Project or equivalent

  • Use of collaboration tools such as Microsoft SharePoint and Teams

  • Experience with pre-sales and customer engagement

  • Secure Software Development Lifecycle
