The DIRECTOR OF LEISURE SALES will focus on cultivating relationships with key luxury travel agencies and Consortia's to bring awareness that RBI is a premier luxury leisure destination in San Diego. The goal of this position is to stimulate new business for transient, leisure and group market segments for the hotel including but not limited to Wholesale, Consortia, GDS, and OTA. Responsibilities include targeting and securing new accounts nationally and internationally through strategic planning, attending travel and trade show related activities. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the RBI and JCR Core Values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Direct the identification, sales efforts, and relationships with individual travel producers including travel management accounts, retail travel agents, consortiums, and wholesalers.

  • Assist in the integration of individual property efforts into the overall RBI strategy.

  • Direct the efforts to garner and organize relevant competitive information. (Using Hotel IQ data for example), and develop SWOT analysis for the leisure market.

  • Establish Leisure Business Marketing and Action Plans working in collaboration with the Marketing department to ensure cohesion of brand and key messaging.

  • Establish wholesale, retail, and corporate travel (where appropriate) target lists. Attainment of annual room night and revenue goal for the leisure travel market sales program.

  • Initiate contact with high potential business travel accounts as identified through direct sales program.

  • Prepare and report monthly on performance including bi-annual evaluation of individual companies in order to review the results in unison to ensure business and leisure travel goals are being met.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: Bachelor's degree in Sales and Marketing or Hotel Management, or equivalent experience required. English fluency required. Must have seven years’ experience in a hotel of comparable quality, preferably in Leisure sales or conference coordinating. Familiarity with industry terms required. Must be computer literate. Must have basic knowledge of accepted business writing formats and usage. Valid California driver's license required. Proof of personal automobile insurance coverage required.

WORKING ENVIROMENT: Works primarily indoors in temperature-controlled, clean, and well• lighted office. Spends approximately 40% of work hours outdoors in all weather conditions, conducting customer tours, and interfacing with operations. Bi-level structures. Extensive facility. Fast-paced position with high level of responsibility for meeting production deadlines. High level of interaction with all types of people and all hotel departments. Wears pager for 24 hour-a-day availability.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks approximately 50% of shift. Sits at desk or in meetings approximately 50% of shift. Heavy use of phones, daily. Uses personal computer approximately 25% of shift. Must be able to travel six to eight weeks per year. Patience and tact required to accommodate customer needs, and resolve occasional difficult situations. Must be flexible to work long, sometimes irregular hours to accommodate client schedules, including occasionally staying overnight at the hotel. Must be able to work well under pressure. Frequent use of stairs, daily.
