The Position: 
The Fabrication Scheduler/Planner is responsible to identify, plan, route, manage the path and expedite fabricated parts and assemblies used for the production of trailers and trailer components. The Fabrication Planner also has responsibilities related to fabrication, welding and paint process management such as training, scheduling, direction of parts and assembly processing and working with the ERP system.

Requirements:
•    Education: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Postsecondary education in procurement, materials planning, business administration, accounting or related fields is preferred.
•    Years of Experience: Actual work experience of at least 1 year working in truck trailer manufacturing facility or similar manufacturing environment. Or actual work experience of at least 3 years in a field related to purchasing, inventory control or shipping and receiving. 
•    High proficiency with computer: JDE ERP and PS scheduling systems and other company-specific programs, database, spreadsheet, document writing, email. 
•    Interpersonal and communication skills – must be able to work effectively with all levels within the organization. Verbal and written communication is clear, correct, concise and professional.  
•    Effective work team management skills including ability to share workload fairly, communicate issues, reach agreements and solve problems together.
•    Problem solving – identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
•    Must be able to use EXCEL, WORD and other software products as required
•    Must be able to read and interpret prints. Understanding of manufacturing processes is a must. 
•    Professionalism – handles all situations and communication tactfully. Reacts well under pressure Treats others with dignity and respect regardless of role within the company. Accepts responsibility for own actions. Follows through on commitments
•    Planning/Organizing – prioritizes and plans work activities. Ability to work well with others    
•    Adaptability – must be able to adapt and be flexible to changes in the work environment.
•    Inventory Management – must understand implications and trade-offs of inventory as it relates to maintaining proper levels to support production, minimize investment in raw material, maintain efficient plant operations, maintenance of equipment, etc. 
•    Understand and practice principles of LEAN Mfg to drive continuous improvement and eliminate waste.
•    Communication skills at a level sufficient to expedite deliveries if needed and to identify, investigate and participate in problem solving between departments and with vendors and suppliers.
•    Knowledge of occupational safety and environmental compliance and other regulations and laws that govern the workplace to the extent necessary to respond to problems especially in the areas of material handling, hoist/ crane operation, Fall Protection Program and Hazardous Waste Management.
•    Ability to count with a high degree of accuracy, enter data, read and interpret reports in order to perform duties efficiently and without error.
•    Computer skills: Company-specific programs, database, spreadsheet, document writing, email, presentation programs. 
•    Ability to effectively analyze and solve problems especially those related to people. Ability to engage others in the resolution of problems
•    Knowledge about design and assembly of dry freight, refrigerated and truck body vans to the extent necessary to perform responsibilities.
•    Effective work team management skills including ability to share workload fairly, communicate issues, solve problems together with ability to adapt quickly adapt to change.
•    A favorable background screening, drug screening, and proof of work authorization in the United States is required for employment. 
Responsibilities:
•    Follow proper steps and processes in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) including planning, routing, work order generation, expediting, materials yielding, scrap/ returns management, substitution, and work order processing to insure in order that the manufacturing facility will meet or exceed production goals.
•    Communicate with materials and production personnel and other departments regarding potential flow issues. 
•    Process requests outside the normal process such as PDC, Warranty or R&D components.
•    Accept Smart Team work flows for item branch coding for fabrication parts.
•    Train workers on processes related to ERP, Smart Team and parts processing.
•    Follow all safety rules and regulations especially regarding Powered Industrial Truck certification and operation, hoist/crane operation, Hazardous Waste Management and Fall Protection program. 
•    Participate in all responsibilities within the scope of fabrication work team management including safety and health programs, housekeeping, tool care, organization of work space and work tasks, timekeeping, recognition programs, quality and improvement initiatives, training and certification, and changes in process.
