The Position:
Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering/Facility Manager, the Lean Control Tower conducts design, shop detailing, preparation of technical documents, gate testing, and controls technical specifications, documents, and books to support quality gates on assembly lines.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and Manage Engineering controls of Quality Gates to support built-in-quality processes.

  • Develop and Manage Engineer controls to support the Scheduling Timing Control initiative in Lean.

  • Provide feedback to appropriate managers of quality defect trends, patterns, and opportunities.

  • Responsible oversight of on-line quality improvement activities to ensure principles of built-in-quality are being executed and maintained.

  • Conduct problem solving efforts and improvement projects related to product quality.

  • Facilitate and conduct data analysis of defects related to quality gates.

  • Create and distribute gate management reports.

  • Conduct daily product, damage, product protection, program audits to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

  • Ensure feedback is getting back to all levels of work teams when issues occur.

  • Effectively support other functions as required such as training, Kaizen or RIW events, and other continuous improvement projects.

  • Direct and assist with problem solving and root cause analysis of machine and process failures.  Work on continuous improvement activities to improve facility uptime and throughput.

  • Other high priority duties and projects as assigned. 

  • Spend 25% of time in office environment and 75% of time in manufacturing environment.

  • May be exposed to possible shop hazards including high noise, heavy machinery, and shop traffic.

Requirements:


•    Education: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (e.g., Engineering, Business).
•    Years of Experience: 5+ years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
•    Preferred:  Combination of experience in Operations, Quality, and Continuous Improvement/Lean.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including advanced data functions in Excel.
•    Knowledge and experience in use of relationship databases, including advanced query and report writing.
•    Experience with and/or trained in Lean & Continuous Improvement principles
•    Experience and capability to coach and lead a project team
•    Capability to communicate effectively, coach and teach at different levels of organization from operators to team leads to senior managers
•    High understanding and knowledge of the manufacturing processes
•    Other Computer skills including RS Logic or other PLC programming software, AutoCAD
•    Analytical analysis and problem-solving skills
•    Strong communication and organization skills
•    A favorable background screening, Drug Screening, and proof of work authorization in the United States is required for employment.
