Micro Operator 2nd Shift

The Micro Operator is primarily responsible for making micros to be used in batching feed. The main goal will be to make micros for all feed ordered for mixing (batching). In doing so, he/she must be able to successfully put together ingredients required for the batch; he/she must also be able to weigh up the exact quantity required and label all micros accurately. He/she must be able to restock the tubs and carousel following FIFO. He/she must regularly maintain/clean the micro room and ingredient storage areas; familiarize self with ingredients, their required specifications and health and safety hazards; and anything else supervisor requires. The qualified candidate will have the ability to work 40+ hours per week and makes (depending on complexity) 10-15 micros in an 8-hour shift. and be detailed oriented. The candidate must be able to multi-task; work as a team player; and work in a fast-paced environment with very high responsibilities.

Shift: 2nd Shift 2PM-10:30PM

Salary: 20.62/hr

Essential Job Functions:


  • Works safely and follows all safety procedures and safety requirements including but not limited to: Lock out tag out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment, SDS sheets, Proper Lifting, Forklift Safety, Pallet Safety and Housekeeping.


  • Adds work order to planning schedule. Enters correct batch size and number of batches. Prints hand-add tickets.


  • Adds micro ingredients required for each batch of feed to be made. In doing so he/she: Weighs up correct ingredients with exactness. Identifies and marks which ingredients will be added by the mixing operator.


  • Closes work orders in E1 and completes all applicable sections accurately.


  • Completes works orders in SMS (Repete).


  • Retrieves bags or pallets of ingredients from ingredient areas using hand carts, forklifts, pallet jacks to restock tubs and/or carousel bins. When retrieving bags/pallets from the warehouse and/or racks follows First-In-First-Out (FIFO). Moves pallets with forklift or a pallet jack to retrieve ingredients that are blocked. Follows SOP-MIXR-002 "Replenishment procedures for micro/mixing."


  • Maintains micro room clean, neat, and organized. All ingredients remain closed except for when in use to protect against cross contamination.


  • Follows all quality related procedures and is proficient in the execution of such. Reports deviations to quality supervisor immediately.


  • Monitors ingredient inventories and notifies management of potential shortages.


  • Completes all required sections of the production log accurately and thoroughly. File is saved after every entry.


  • Completes all required paperwork related to drugs (medications) accurately and thoroughly.


  • Complete monthly cycle count of bagged ingredients.


  • Loads bulk trucks as needed.


  • Receives bagged ingredients as needed. Must be fully proficient with receiving procedures.


  • Empties bin 90 (trash bin) for salvage feed buyers. Completes all required paperwork such as weight certificates.


  • Cleans work area at the end of shift.


  • Clean spills and piles in a timely manner. This includes self-generated spills or spills caused by equipment failures.


  • Places all empty bags in the baler.


  • Completes additional housekeeping assignments.


  • Standing, walking, able to work in tight spaces, climbing stairs/ladders - required.


  • Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions - required.


  • Repetitive use of hands - required.


  • Clean shaven to accommodate full face respirator or dust mask - required.


  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques (i.e. lift with legs) - required.


  • Able to lift and carry up to 55 lbs. - required.


  • Visual acuity - required.


  • Able to work in hot/cold/dusty environments - required.


  • Beating/poking bins - required.


  • Forklift certified - required.


  • Weighmaster certified - required.


  • Not afraid of working heights greater than 5 feet - required.


  • Attention to detail - required.


  • Basic computer and math skills - required.


Education Requirement: High School diploma/GED preferred.

Time Demands:


  • On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime.


  • When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meetbusiness needs - this is a requirement of this position.


  • This position does not have a fixed schedule. This position requires the employee to be flexiblewith their schedule so that they can accommodate production schedule and complete allrequired tasks.


  • This can include coming in earlier than expected or staying later than expected.



  • Sense of urgency - required.


  • Overtime/weekends - required per business needs.


  • Completes miscellaneous assignments from management.


  • Assigned work tools - PPE and radio.
