INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIST at University of Oklahoma

CPM is a department within the College of Continuing Education at the University of Oklahoma. We provide public sector agencies, staff, service providers, clients and community partners training, research and consultant support for professional and programmatic development. We deliver cost-effective, customer-orientated solutions that are tailored to meet unique needs and situations.



 
The position works collaboratively with a team to support innovative best practices of learning technologies in learning design and solutions. The position completes large and small-scale technology projects, creates help documentation, and provide one-on-one or group training and support consultations.

Duties to include:


  • Collaborating with facilitators, learning consultants, and instructional designers in the use of technology for learning design

  • Research industry best practices and outcomes related to learning technologies and recommend appropriate integration into learning solutions.  

  • Assisting with planning, testing, and implementation of new technologies and services

  • Developing and maintaining support documentation (written, online, or video)

  • Ensuring continuous quality improvement for all digital learning outputs driven by stakeholder feedback, program and product research and the integration of new technologies

  • Ensuring services and projects in the educational technology arena are well-managed and adhere to appropriate standards for scalability, maintainability and best practices

  • Present proposals or facilitate learning sessions to internal collaborators regarding technology applications and solutions.

  • Maintaining technical knowledge of assigned applications such as learning management, authoring, multimedia - Maintaining up-to-date knowledge about new technologies and new approaches to digital content delivery

Required Education: Bachelor Degree in educational technology, instructional design, learning science, training, digital mediaor equivalent combination of education/job related experience,  AND: 


  • 18-36 months of experience in instructional design, instructional technology, adult learning or similar field

Skills:


  • Ability to research industry best practices.

  • Ability to create online/blended instructional learning.

  • Ability to integrate immersive learning technologies into learning solutions.

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists or fingers. Ability to touch including finger dexterity. Ability to see including color, depth perception and clarity, sit and communicate including receiving detailed information orally or making fine discriminations in sound.

Departmental Preferences:


  • Experience designing and creating online/blended instructional training and/or course materials

  • Experience creating and supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, etc)

  • Ability to interact with software applications and understand functionality

  • Ability to work with multiple stake-holders, under tight deadlines

  • Must have an organized, systematic approach to tasks

  • Knowledge of and desire to learn more about the educational potential of technology

  • A working knowledge of a variety of common desktop/cloud-based applications for instruction
