Job Description:

Barnes Healthcare Services is seeking an Experience Pharmacy Technician to assist the Pharmacist with providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization as well as state standards. Barnes is seeking an experienced, infusion technician with a strong grasp of 797 guidelines and the ability to manage the cleanroom.   Someone eager to take ownership!  As an organization, we make it our mission to educate patients on healthy lifestyles and as the Pharmacy Technician, you will also be a 'health coach' for our patients. The person in this role will assist with the preparation, packing, and delivery of products and services to patients; and is experienced in all aspects of medication compounding and plays a significant role in the coordination of patient services.

The Pharmacy Technician, under the direction of the Pharmacist, is responsible for preparing IV MEDS safely for patients, adhering to established protocols for State and Federal standards, and other regulatory entities. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES will be:


  • Performs the following tasks in a correct and timely fashion under the supervision of a pharmacist:


    • Contacts patients and/or caregivers to schedule a delivery and determine supply needs.

    • Picks and packs medical supplies to fill patient orders.

    • Accurately dispenses products in the computer system to generate a delivery ticket and/or prescription labels.

    • Confirms delivery tickets after delivery.


  • Assists the pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies using appropriate techniques and following Barnes Healthcare policies and procedures.

    • Accurately calibrates equipment.

    • Assists with the maintenance of pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs

    • Ensures all pharmacy surfaces, laminar flow hoods, and clean rooms are cleaned per company policy.

    • Prepares medications under the supervision of a pharmacist so they are appropriately concentrated.

    • Ensures that a licensed pharmacist properly checks all compounding and packing.

    • Adheres to appropriate safety and quality assurance practices.

    • Complies with state and federal laws.


  • Manage time effectively to fulfill responsibilities.

  • Maximize work efficiency through the use of computers and other technologies.

  • Assists with product purchasing, inventory, and equipment management.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.

  • Maintain a professional image at all times.


  • High School Diploma and/or GED required

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician required in the State of Georgia. 

  • Thorough working knowledge of IV medications, sterile IV mixtures, and aseptic procedures and working knowledge of basic pharmaceutical calculations

  • Proficient with 797 Guidelines

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team under stressful conditions at times and under time constraints.
