Accounting Specialist Part-Time

Rider University seeks a part-time Accounting Specialist who will be responsible for processing and reconciliation of Rider University payments and will work closely with Finance. Some payments include student accounts receivables, tuition & housing deposits, department, and miscellaneous payments. This position is also responsible for distribution of petty cash.


The Accounting Specialist must be able to respond to correspondences and questions by phone and email in a timely manner. Also, process mail, prepare bank deposits for armored car pickup and request and receive money from bank. The Accounting Specialist will operate independently in prioritizing own workload and that of others in determining how best to accomplish work objectives.

• High School Diploma


• Banking experience


• Basic accounting background, the ability to handle large sums of money, the ability to process credit card transactions


• Provide excellent customer service to the university community


• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive


• Ability to problem-solve issues arising from the above transactions


• Strong attention to detail


• Ability to keep information confidential

Three or more years working in a banking or related environment.
Ellucian Banner, Cognos and E-Commerce platforms including Touchnet & Nelnet experience is preferred.
