Job Description:

Position Summary


The Data Management Department is part of the Enterprise Information Management organization and provides thought leadership and guidance in the Data Analysis, Data Management, Data Governance, COE implementation and support of Chubb’s enterprise data management needs. This role is primarily responsible for reference data profiling, analysis and mapping work related to creating and maintaining Chubb’s insurance product data and reference data.  This role works closely with the insurance business subject matter experts, business analysts, information architecture, data integration IT teams and others within the data management organization.

 

 

Key responsibilities also include the following:

 


  • Refine Business Reference Data Management & Support capabilities, help grow maturity and standardize reference data across the enterprise.    

  • Perform extensive data analysis with various data sources (Policy Admin, Claims & Financial systems) to determine the reference data mapping and implement necessary data value/definition quality improvements.  

  • Rationalization of existing corporate and application reference data across the organization. Identify and recommend the usage by business applications.

  • Analyze and document existing reference data derivation processes and data flows to capture optimal data lineage.

  • Work with business analysts, data developers, Information Architects, and business unit stakeholders to implement and recommend corporate reference data standards.


  • Participate within a team of data management subject matter experts to identify and evolve key reference data management functions and initiatives within the Chubb organization.


  • Work closely with Data Management team to ensure consistent utilization of Reference Data and support Data Governance initiatives.

 

 

 

Primary responsibilities include the following:

 


  • Data Analysis / Mapping - Conduct extensive data analysis. Identify key data attributes related to Policy and Claims business, determine best sources for business data mapping values and implement solution.  Understand business requirements and business data flow, analyze insurance data and document rules for transforming source data to meet target data requirements. 

  • Leadership / Collaboration - Partner with business analysts and IT developers to build and ensure alignment with reference data vision.  Keep current with data management industry practices and emerging technologies.  Partner with data warehouse subject matter experts to evolve data conformance approaches and to ensure consistent execution of these practices.  Train/Guide less experienced data analysts, including both employees and contracted workers to reduce single person dependency.

  • Communication – Provide clear, crisp and timely communications and Quality Reporting to management.

  • Data Analyst Knowledge Management - Ensure reference data stewardship/analyst practices are documented and maintained.  Help grow the maturity of Chubb’s reference data management practices.

  • Project Delivery and Support– Identify reference data management tasks, cross-team dependencies for delivery and communicate to project managers. Leverage JIRA process to track the business requests and manage demand pipeline. Recommend any process improvements and deliver on time.    

  • Personal Development – Keep current with Data Management industry trends, Chubb’s business priorities and Chubb’s Information Management thought leadership.  Contribute to Chubb’s Reference Data Management strategies.

  • Provide Data Analysis support to business/operational/report implementation team 

  • Support Compliance requirements and enforce Audit/Sox controls within the process as needed.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • A bachelor’s degree is a plus

  • Over 10 years of experience analyzing property insurance data and supporting business teams in a shared service model, with demonstrated ability to analyze business data.

  • Over 5 years of experience in determining and documenting data mapping / transformation rules.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of P&C insurance concepts and business data

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in business data definition, data profiling and quality analysis

  • Proven track record of results orientation, flexibility and adaptability

  • Ability to manage customer demand , with proven facilitation and problem  resolution skills

  • Insurance certification (e.g., AINS) is a plus

  • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams and meeting expectations.

  • Strong sense of accountability with organization-wide perspective and customer focus

  • Self-driven and resourceful.  Lead/drive results as an influence.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to modify direction or thinking as appropriate to support the needs of the organization

  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies
