What we expect… (Essential Functions)

Ability to operate various types of construction equipment, such as backhoes, track excavators, small to medium dozers, and articulating trucks.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.


  • Excavate, move or grade earth on job site

  • May be required to load or unload equipment, earth and materials onto trailer, dump truck, etc.

  • Basic knowledge and capability of installing underground pipe (ADS, RCP, PVC) and fittings

  • Checking and shooting grades and elevations

  • Communicate well with Supervisor and team members

  • Respect company, client and subcontractor property

  • Care and account for company tools, materials and equipment

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubrication, fueling, cleaning, checking oil and water

  • Operate and inspect equipment, perform daily inspections, diagnose minor defects, examine parts for damage or excessive wear, and maintain logs and records for maintenance and insurance purposes

  • May occasionally perform concrete form work, concrete finishing, back filling, tying re-bar, edge forming, and installing pipe

  • Perform work safely and in accordance with industry and company standards

  • Ensure work areas are maintained in a neat, safe and orderly fashion

  • Other duties may be assigned

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear. Regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.

Employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives and vibrations. Noise level on the job site is normally moderate to loud. Overtime and travel may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position requires no supervisory responsibilities.
