Responsible for management, coordination and execution of internal and external communications strategies, plans and programs to support EWEB’s strategic goals and business objectives associated with wildfire resiliency, electric operations and related initiatives.

The Eugene Water & Electric Board is currently seeking a Communications Specialist III to manage, coordinate and execute internal and external communications strategies, plans and programs to support EWEB’s strategic goals and business objectives associated with wildfire resiliency, electric operations, and related initiatives.
In consultation with subject matter experts the Communications Specialist III, develops, implements, and measures public-facing messaging and content in a variety of media formats and delivery platforms, and creates and executes short and long-term communications campaigns that generate public education and understanding around EWEB’s wildfire and electric resiliency initiatives and preparedness programs.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the long-term planning and ongoing performance of EWEB’s public facing website.

Duties And Responsibilities
The starting salary for this position is between $71,328.47– $89,160.70 annually, commensurate with knowledge, skills, education, and experience as it relates to the position.

This position is based in Eugene, Oregon; however, it has been approved for remote/hybrid work. During the first six months a heavy on-site presence may be required, after which time on-site presence may be required less frequently based on business need. EWEB is committed to the safety of the workforce, therefore on-site visits may be reduced based on CDC/OHA guidelines due to COVID-19. EWEB also offers relocation reimbursement to be negotiated at the time of offer.
Minimum Training & Experience Required:
Minimum Experience: A minimum of four years progressive experience in public relations and communications, including designing and executing successful campaigns and programs for a utility or comparable business, industry or public entity. Experience should also include at least two years’ experience using content management and social business software, experience drafting written materials (press releases, pitches, Q&A, etc.), as well as website design, maintenance, administration and troubleshooting.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying.
