This position is located at Stephenson Cancer Center in the Pharmacy Clinic.
POSITION INFORMATION: Under direct supervision of a pharmacist(s) in a clinical infusion setting, prepares medications according to a physician's orders. May provide assistance by obtaining pharmaceuticals through Patient Assistance Programs (PAP) and Medication Assistance Programs (MAP) sponsored by pharmaceutical companies.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Compound Preparation. Prepares compounds using aseptic technique and dispenses medications, intravenous medications, and chemotherapy according to physician’s orders.
Environment. Performs daily and monthly cleaning of cleanroom suite following USP 797 and USP 800 standards as well as departmental policies and procedures.
Compliance. Responsible for following all applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Responsible for reporting safety issues and errors in a timely matter to supervisor.
Correspondence. Researches, reviews, and replies to a wide range of correspondence and written inquiries regarding dispensing, inventory, management, and storage of study provided drugs (Investigational Drug Services only).
Patient Assistance Programs. Obtain pharmaceuticals via Patient Assistance and Medication Assistance Programs sponsored by pharmaceutical companies; keeps abreast with manufacturers Patient and Medication Assistance Programs; distributes all indigent pharmaceutical inventories to appropriate volunteer Pharmacies; interviews referred patients to obtain qualification status.
Training. Completes all required initial and ongoing training assigned by department, OU Physicians, and OU Medicine. May be required to assist with training new employees or pharmacy students.
Special Projects. Contributes to the operations of special projects; may assist in documenting cost savings and assist with funding from local hospitals.
Inventory Management. Maintains adequate and accurate inventory of drugs and supplies. Ensures drugs are stored under proper conditions and removed from inventory upon expiration. Unpacks shipments and receives drugs into inventory system.
As Needed. Performs related duties as assigned or as required to successfully fulfill function of the position.
Certifications/Licenses: Pharmacy Technician permit issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy or must obtain the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy permit within 45 days from hire date
