Job Description:

Overall Purpose:  This position requires an individual with proven technical skills to partner across organizations and companies to extend existing or create new wireline broadband access and wireless transport architecture and design solutions that align to 5 year roadmaps.  The individual must have a strong background in Layer 2/3 networking, Broadband Access and Wireless RAN Transport designs.  Individuals attaining this technical level will have or be capable of exhibiting extraordinary contributions in next generation wireline broadband access and wireless transport architectures supporting Centralized and Open Radio Access Networking.  Contributions may be external to Standards or Open bodies or may be internal to leadership or the working teams.  Strong writing skills are required.  They shall be recognized as a technical leader in PON, optical distribution, and 5G xHaul hardware, software, standards, design, and architecture concepts.  In addition, the individual will be able to analyze technical and high level financial cost models for Senior Executive distribution.  This position aligns with the corporate strategies to develops concepts and designs that direct all downstream engineering and testing organizations and will have an impact on major company programs. Applies advanced engineering and scientific knowledge to architecture, design and development work in a Research and Development environment for high-value technology and solutions tied to the strategic direction of the company. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Conducts design and development work in the areas of new products/technologies, systems/platform architecture, hardware/software development engineering, technical security and QA Design/Certification. Work must primarily involve new and emerging technologies and technical architectures on projects with a status between inception and implementation/software maturity. May serve as subject matter expert during the continuous integration/continuous deployment cycle in a production environment focused on complex design, engineering and development. Job Contribution: Acknowledged technical authority. Owner of existing technology/product roadmap.


Experience: PhD in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or Masters degree in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience, or a Bachelors degree in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience.
