ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Role / Responsibility Supervisor - Evenings
Daily Duties
• Manage all admissions and discharges that occur on the evening shift
• Meet with each Med nurse to review evening case load and special responsibilities
• Huddle with CNA team on each floor to discuss case load and any special responsibilities
for their shift
• Oversee care of all residents and intervene/support staff appropriately
• Review CNA assignment with CNA team including:
o Coverage on each floor
o Monitor compliance with job responsibilities
o Ensure documentation is completed before CNAs leave at 11pm
o Manage any disciplinary issues that come up on evenings
• Review all new admissions from Days to ensure admission check list is completed
• Review completion of daily skilled documentation for all Med A residents that were
assigned for evening team
• Med Dispense
o Support other nurses in utilizing med dispense when necessary
o Complete audit to ensure med dispense has been properly used for the past shift
o Ensure that new admissions have been entered into the med dispense
• Incidents and Accidents
o Complete documentation for all Incidents including witness statements
Initial incident documentation
Progress not describing care provided
Update care plan with new prevention intervention suggestion
• Staffing
o Managing evening and night shift staffing
Verify that all evening staff arrive and they are aware of their assignments
Review upcoming night shift staffing and manage any problems using the
staffing book.
• Reporting
o Craft an email to Night shift ADON and DON with a summary of any significant
issues
Resident change of condition
Things to follow up on
Staffing problems
Lab and X-ray follow –up
Pharmacy issues
• Review labs from days and evenings and ensure all have been addressed
• Manage Pharmacy deliveries and troubleshoot any problems with medication availability
or order.
• Notify MD/NP with issues as appropriate
Role / Responsibility Supervisor - Nights
Daily Duties
• Oversee care of all residents and intervene appropriately
• Review CNA assignment with CNA team including:
o Coverage on each floor
o “get up list” for support for day shift
o Monitor compliance with job responsibilities
o Ensure documentation is completed before CNAs leave at 7am
o Manage any disciplinary issues that come up on nights
• Review all new admissions from Days and Evenings to ensure admission check list is
completed
• Review completion of daily skilled documentation for all Med A residents
• Complete Redlining (you can ask the other nurse to assist if appropriate)
• Med Dispense
o Support other nurses in utilizing med dispense when necessary
o Complete audit to ensure med dispense has been properly used for the past 24
hours
o Ensure that new admissions have been entered into the med dispense
• Infection Prevention
o Complete tracking log for all infections that have been newly diagnosed
Identify infection location
Cause / bug
Antibiotic
Mapping
QAPI action plan if improvement needed
• Incidents and Accidents

o Review all Incidents for completion of full incident report including witness
statements
Review Initial incident documentation and make any necessary corrections
Ensure follow up documentation is completed
Verify that a progress note is entered in AHT for 3 consecutive days
Verify that the care plan has been updated
• Staffing
o Managing Night and Day shift staffing
Verify that all night staff arrive and they are aware of their assignments
Review Dress and Get Up assignments
Review Day shift staffing and manage any problems using the staffing
book.
• Reporting
o Craft an email to DON with a summary of any significant issues

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse.
A minimum of year as a supervisor is required.
Must be CPR Certified.
Experience and Basic Knowledge:
One year of long term care desirable. Med-surg, Home Health, Emergency Room experience
helpful. Also experience working with the handicapped or developmentally disabled adults.
Physical and Environmental Requirements. The physical activities of this position
involve:
Fingering Lifting up to 40 lbs. Standing

Sensory and communicative activities with or without prosthetics of this position are:
