Job Description:

ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside Board of Supervisors has a professional student internship opportunity that will be assigned to and based out of the Fourth District. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to serve as the Youth Advisory Council Coordinator for the District's County Supervisor and be tasked with duties such as mentoring high school aged youth as well as coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) program within their district.

In addition to the minimum qualifications listed below, the most qualified candidates must possess excellent time management and organizational skills as well as professionalism and the ability to set boundaries. Candidates who have experience working with youth are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Board of Supervisors Professional Student Intern opportunity has a flexible work week and requires a 2-year commitment limited to 1,000 hours per year. Candidates must be enrolled in a Bachelor's program or have a graduation date from a Bachelor's program that does not exceed 12 months during the entire duration of the internship.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Supervise and facilitate YAC's community service events and meetings during the weekdays and weekends which may include evenings.

Drive YAC members to and from YAC events and Meetings within Riverside County.

Assist with the coordination of all Youth Commission meetings, events and projects including 3 large annual events.

Assist district staff with constituent issues, correspondence and field work as needed. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Cumulative Grade Point Average : Minimum 3.0 GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application .

Location: The Fourth District covers the eastern two-thirds of Riverside County, covering Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs, and runs south to the Salton Sea and east to Blythe and the Colorado River. Candidates must reside within the Fourth District.

Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university, in a Bachelor's program during the entire duration of the internship. All recent college graduates are eligible to intern for up to one year (twelve months) from their graduation date. Graduation date is not to exceed twelve month maximum during the duration of the internship .

Areas of Study : Public/Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Arts, Humanities, or similar.

Experience, Knowledge, Abilities : Experience with the full Microsoft Office Suite; Experience leading and managing youth; Ability to plan and organize events.
