Amerisure is currently recruiting for an Application Development Manager. This role will support our Farmington Hills Headquarters. This position has the ability to sit remote. The ideal candidate will also possess the following skill set. 

Summary Statement

Manages and provides strategic direction in the development and maintenance of applications within the Information Technology department's portfolio.  Champions application development processes and methodology, driving high quality, timely deliverables.  Leads team in adoption of user-centered design principles, DevOps practices and continuous improvement in processes.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties


  • Manage, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties of direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  • Lead team in software development and integration activities.

  • Work with internal business partners, customers, and users to design and deliver digital experiences.

  • Collaborate on the deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of user applications and broader-based application development technologies in alignment with company technology architecture roadmap.

  • Ensure effective analysis, design, construction, testing and implementation of applications ranging across all levels of complexity and project methodologies, including agile.

  • Research, propose and/or develop new standard processes, procedures and tools as needed to continuously improve our application development processes, and ensure compliance with established processes and procedures.

  • Own production environment and ensure availability and stability of all systems in portfolio.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering or related field or related years of experience. 

  • 7 years application development experience including two years resource, project, and operational activities management experience in support of a corporate application development environment.

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise (SME) experience and knowledge in one or more systems development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, including those that support agile and/or iterative development.

  • Demonstrated successful experience with using multiple technology solution platforms and service providers to deliver business value.

  • Subject matter expertise (SME) experience and knowledge of programming, database, and user experience (UX) concepts and techniques.

  • Demonstrated successful proficiency in technologies such as Microsoft .NET, C#, and Oracle preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
