Commercial Term Lending (Multifamily) provides commercial real estate owners and investors with term loans ranging from $1M to $100M+. As the nation's #1 multifamily lender, we offer clients full- service real estate financing products and services that are unparalleled in the market.

Credit Risk, Senior Underwriter for Commercial Term Lending's Credit Lending Group:


  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of underwriting commercial real estate term loans.
  • Position requires superior financial analysis; property valuation and project management skills coupled with knowledge of local Northern California and the Pacific Northwest commercial real estate markets.
  • The Senior Underwriter will underwrite the most complex transactions with little or no guidance from immediate manager and serve as back-up for immediate manager and mentor for more junior underwriters and credit analysts.
Knowledge Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of commercial property valuation techniques including discounted cash flow analysis.
  • Market research tools for all commercial real estate including multifamily, industrial, retail and office property.
  • Superior financial analysis skills including property operating statement for variety of property types and personal financial statements of individual sponsors.
  • Computer proficiency skills in Excel (financial modeling), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint.
  • Standards, practices, methodologies, and regulatory requirements relative to the finance/accounting disciplines.
  • Standards relating to the appropriate documentation of work activities.


  • Establish and maintain effective relations with internal business partners including sales, processing closing and legal.
  • Project management skills including ability to prioritize, plan and manage people and processes to complete underwriting and other assignments on a timely basis.
  • Identify issues in a timely manner, formulate and propose effective solutions.
  • Understand and interpret financial/performance data.
  • Become conversant with the policies, standards, procedures, and regulations applicable to the assigned work unit in a timely manner.
  • Concisely express ideas and convey technical information in written, oral, and electronic communication.
  • Provide effective guidance and performance feedback to lower-level underwriters and analysts.
  • Independently plan and conduct non-routine financial analysis/reporting projects.
  • Ability to serve as functional technical expert in responding to inquiries and resolving system related issues.
  • Thorough understanding of risk impact and consequence of errors in formulating decisions and providing direction to others.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or real estate; Minimum requirements of 7- 10 years' experience in commercial real estate lending, underwriting and or loan workouts.
  • Experience in conducting financial/credit analysis of personal financial statements and schedules of real estate preferred
  • Passion for commercial real estate
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to concisely express ideas and propose effective solutions
