The Communications Junior Associate/Intern is responsible for creating and managing content that supports Stride's public relations efforts. We're looking for an ambitious specialist to showcase Stride's mission through social media, earned media, and internal communications support. The Junior Associate/Intern contributes directly to the success of the Corporate Communications department, performing essential duties including social media content development, analysis, and reporting; interviewing, writing, and pitching for earned media placement; media analytics and more.


Essential Functions:



  • Interview students, families, educators and other school stakeholders, for written pieces and media pitching

  • Write for K12's corporate channels and earned media placements, covering school and student success stories, corporate events, and more

  • Assist with management of Stride's social media presence, including, but not limited to, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn

  • Draft content for use across social media platforms, curating content for varying audiences depending upon channel

  • Plan and schedule social media content using management platforms and tools

  • Analyze social media metrics and prepare team reports to monitor performance

  • Help to create and executive social media campaigns, developing content and visual assets, while tracking performance

  • Track and monitor platform performance and brand reputation using social media listening tools and analytics

  • Actively pitch media on school events and other stories; includes email and phone correspondence with reporters and news desks nationwide

  • Process incoming earned media coverage by posting to a variety of external-facing websites and social media platforms

  • Update company intranet site and external websites

  • Assist the team with day-to-day administrative and operational duties, as assigned


Qualifications:



  • Completed or working towards an undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, English or other relevant field

  • Working knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Reddit; familiarity with social media measurement tools and management platforms (Hootsuite, Airtable, etc.) a plus

  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills

  • Experience with photo editing and graphic design tools, including Adobe Photoshop and/or Canva

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships across the organization

  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Strong creativity and proven track record of showing initiative

  • Results/action-orientation; project management skills

  • Ability to listen effectively, respect others' perspectives and contributions, and offer and accept constructive feedback

  • Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity and trust

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.) proficiency

  • This is a home-based position until the reopening of Stride headquarters is determined. We are seeking applicants from Washington, D.C, and from any state except Colorado. We anticipate a typical school office setting including conversation, light foot traffic, computers, etc.
