The Team

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Business Process — Account to Report to join American Tower’s Global Business Services (“GBS”) organization.  The GBS team develops and manages business service centers to execute accounting and transactional activities resulting in efficiency, quality, and enhanced strategic decision support. The Business Process Manager is a key leader in delivering GBS strategy by overseeing the implementation, standardization, and optimization of the transactional accounting activity that are within the scope of service center responsibilities to meet the Company’s operational and statutory financial reporting needs. Working collaboratively with GBS leadership, the service centers, regional finance organizations, and the Corporate Accounting team, you will develop operating models, delivery strategy (where and how transactions are executed), procedures, and controls to ensure that the Company financial reporting obligations in each market are met in ways that are both efficient and scalable to support future asset portfolio growth. As a Business Process Manager, you will partner with stakeholders to understand business, accounting, and financial reporting requirements and build engagement, consensus, and action plans to deploy and improve these processes within agreed timelines.

What You Can Offer Us


  • Drive the development of a comprehensive service and control framework that ensures that the Account to Report  processes that are within the scope of service center responsibilities meet the Company’s financial and operating requirements efficiently and comply with GAAP (US and local) and the Company’s polices and reporting timetable.

  • Work with regional and market finance and corporate teams to ensure that, with respect to fixed asset accounting, transactional activities and data flow consistently through construction in process (both acquisition integration and construction) through capitalization and across the life cycle of the asset such that GAAP and tax reporting needs in both the markets and the U.S. are met.

  • Function as a key member of both GBS Business Process and Service Center management teams that are responsible for executing these processes daily.

  • Manage significant interactions and relationships with GBS leadership, market finance teams and the Corporate Accounting team to ensure a balance between business units’ and markets’ needs with the requirement to support and drive scalable business processes.

  • Lead forums to ensure that key stakeholders are fully engaged in the development of strategies and that associated key constituencies are aligned.

  • Support the development of implementation strategies to standardize, optimize, and deploy these core processes to markets not currently supported by GBS and provide a scalable platform to support growth in the asset portfolio efficiently.

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and refinement of tools and methods to capture and leverage process mappings and analyses as they relate to Account to Report processes.

  • Implement a quality audit strategy to ensure that transactional activities and financial reports are executed in adherence with governance rules, policies, and defined business processes that enhances quality and efficiency; communicate the results and provide input into process changes and efficiencies.

  • Liaise with and support the Service Center directors and their teams to ensure efficient execution of transactions processing and reporting.

  • Partner with the GBS delivery organization to ensure that fixed asset processes are performed in accordance with intended designs and specified service levels and adhere to relevant Company policies and guidelines.

  • Other duties as assigned.


What You Need to Succeed


  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • MBA or Master of Accountancy and CPA strongly preferred.

  • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a high-volume, accounting services group. Experience running fixed asset, general ledger close and reporting processes strongly preferred.

  • Staff management experience required.

  • Strong understanding of business process design or experience in a shared services environment preferred.

  • Telecommunications industry experience preferred.

  • Deep knowledge of fixed asset and general ledger processes from both design and operational perspectives required.

  • Approximately 25% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.

  • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for self and team to meet requirements and deadlines.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results.
