Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, Tampa FL (OBE Tampa) is seeking a safety-conscious, energetic, self-motivated, individual as a Machine Operator. The production position involves using industrial machinery to fabricate glass for use in a residential and commercial application. It also involves handling and moving glass and metal materials from one position/location to another to support production requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operating a machine to manipulate/fabricate glass to produce a finished product


• Reading and interpreting product tags, orders, sketches, and setting necessary equipment to make specified product


• Measure workpiece dimensions the 1/16th of an inch


• Safely operate and adjust machinery and perform operator level maintenance


• Move/lift glass and metal product from: tables, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wood crates for eight or more hours, daily


• Use of dolly, crane, pallet jack, lift assist, suction cup, tape measure, pliers, glass cutter, and other various tools


• The "team concept" instituted for shop floor production workers requires each worker to perform different functions on a rotating basis


• Notify lead person or supervisor of any mechanical or material issues


• Maintain a safe and clean work area


• Regular and predictable attendance, the ability to safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job

 

Requirements

• Ability to control the operation of a machine which will be manipulating glass in a variety of ways to make a finished product


• Ability to read and understand job-related paperwork and labels


• Ability to read and interpret mathematical measurements and effectively use a tape measure


• Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)


• The "team concept" instituted for shop floor production workers requires each worker to perform different job functions on a rotating basis


• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred


• Flexible work availability for 1st or 2nd shift (Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and/or Sundays) with ability to work overtime as required
