The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is a critical function of the HR team.  The primary focus of the role will be ensuring that payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner.  In addition, the role will be the primary contact for the any benefits related activities including addressing all team members inquiries.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Responsibilities / Essential Functions:



  • Ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all benefit invoices.

  • Responsible for full-cycle payroll overseeing all all-payroll reporting is delivered to the accounting team in a timely manner.

  • Process multi tax jurisdiction payrolls for roughly 300 employees on a bi-weekly basis and off-cycle payrolls as needed.

  • Review and approve payroll related items such as job changes, salary changes, qualifying life events and final terminations.

  • Follow up and review documentation for all leave of absences.  Escalate to HR leadership as needed to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

  • Ability to respond and resolve payroll and benefit questions and discrepancies in a professional, accurate and timely manner while delivering quality customer service.

  • Ensure accuracy of users’ data in HCM/payroll platform.

  • Meet with benefits broker on a regular basis to troubleshoot any items of concern.

  • Complete employment verifications, wage garnishment and fulfill other internal report requests in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Assist with year-end activities including processing W-2, ACA and annual EEO-1 reporting.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of 401k contributions and distributions.

  • Follow up on any workers compensation incidents to ensure the proper care and treatment for the team member along with the accurate and timely reporting of the incident to the WC carrier. 

  • Reconcile all benefits invoices against HCM benefit enrollment reporting.

  • Process Qualifying Life Event requests and maintain accurate records for COBRA administration.

  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for benefit audits.

  • Other Projects as assigned

Qualifications, knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • 4+ years of relevant experience in a payroll/benefits position

  • Knowledge of UKG Pro / UltiPro Payroll and HCM 

  • Strong Working Knowledge of Excel.

  • Ability to embrace new technologies brought into the Payroll Department and the working skills to easily understand the new technology.

  • Knowledge of payroll best practices, applicable payroll tax and benefit related laws and regulations.

  • Adherence to internal controls and maintains confidentiality.

  • Extremely organized with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal skills, able to communicate effectively.

  • Highly flexible personality that adapts easily to change.

  • Candidates must know how to be an employee advocate and must understand that our team members are our internal customers.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.

  • Self-starter and able to manage their workload independently.
