Work closely with the apparel design team, product development, and PLM team to develop the seasonal outdoor and trail running apparel ranges. Partner with the Run/Outdoor Footwear team to assure seasonal color, trend, performance and graphic alignment.
Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of artwork pages, CADS, and tech packages based on design time and action calendar.
Partner with Developers and World Cat sourcing offices to implement a clear understanding of outdoor product design, fit, and function. Develop thorough understanding of the capabilities, flexibility and limitations of source base.
Create and execute outdoor apparel products that meet cost and margin requirements.
Drive desirability, innovation, and inspiration to create the next ICON products.
Ensure that all products follow PUMA international design, brand and quality standards.
Conduct outdoor market research for competitor, best practices, consumer and price studies, and most importantly trend research.
Proactively keep Head of Design/Team Head updated through frequent status reports.
Act as mentor and leader for the Running, Training, Studio Apparel Design team, including overseeing/managing up to one direct report and/or intern
Be accountable for the organization and preparation of key meeting tools. Ensure excellent alignment for the apparel and graphic design concepts and perform product presentations in front of small and large groups.
8 + years as an Apparel Outdoor Designer, preferably for an outdoor apparel company.
BS/BA or BFA degree preferred.
Prior experience in managing direct reports and/or interns directly is preferred
Advanced skill level in Adode Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
Advanced knowledge of the Outdoor Sports and/or Sport lifestyle market (Competition, Distribution, Price, Product, Consumer, Retail environment)
Advanced technical background related to outdoor fabrics, trims, product development, and quality requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Position requires presentations to internal and external groups.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong line merchandising abilities / building well rounded and balanced collections.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages at the same time.
Approximate International Travel Required: 15-25%
