Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Plans, organizes, constructs, maintains, repairs and modifies single stage and progressive dies and tools.
  • Make tools and performs various machining operations by reading blueprints, engineering sketches and/or by general verbal instruction.
  • Select proper grade of carbide for die being made. Make carbide dies using diamond tools, diamond chips, and diamond compound.
  • Make trapped extrusion/power dies for Header machines (56, 89, and 1012 headers).
  • Set up for machining and assembly operations of tools; and may make partial or complete model of part. Performs machining operations to make various tooling.
  • Sharpen tools made of high-speed tool steel, carbide and other materials.
  • Set-up and operate tool room machines, including lathes, Hones, Presses, Surface grinders and Tool & Cutter Grinders, and drill press.
  • Performs dimensional inspection by using micrometers, indicators, calipers and comparators, and other precision instruments as needed.
  • Ability to read blueprint and use measuring instruments.
  • Must be familiar with Upper 12 Point Tooling (12 Point Extrusion Die).
  • Work closely with Header Operator to ensure properly sized tooling.
Education:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
