The Scripps’ National Networks (ION, Katz and Newsy) provides absorbing entertainment and objective, intelligent news as we use our own distribution platforms to serve this unduplicated national audience. We meet the audience where it is with the programs it wants.

Scripps National Networks is looking for a Senior Manager to accelerate audience growth across targeted platforms, and support the VP of Digital, Multiplatform & Strategy Research to provide diverse research skills related to content and marketing for various digital, social and OTT properties.

What you will do:


  • Lead, contribute and drive a wide variety of special projects related to new product development, distribution, emerging data sources, new analytical tools, and other initiatives that reside outside the existing Scripps Network brands.

  • Research and report on content and marketing for the various digital, social and OTT properties operated by Scripps National Networks (i.e. Newsy, Brown Sugar, network websites, etc.).

  • Contribute to communicating special project findings to the VP, and other key stakeholders supported by Research.

  • Manage research staff.

What you will bring:

Education & Experience/Certifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in statistics, computer science, economics or related quantitative field required. An advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years research and analytics experience, with some of this at a media company. 

  • Management experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities


  • Demonstrated experience interpreting results and applying findings to a business setting.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple media channels.

  • Site measurement tools such as Adobe or Google Analytics.

  • Strong problem solving and consulting skills.

  • Understanding of relational databases and audience-based platforms.

  • Hands-on experience and proficiency in SQL, RapidMiner, R, Python and other tools for data mining using techniques like scenario modeling, pattern detection, A/B testing, nearest neighbor, cluster analysis, sentiment analysis, decision trees, optimization, simulation, regression analysis, utilization of ensembles, and other types of analysis.

  • Experience designing and measuring media and audience-based tests.

  • Ability to design and execute analyses using large record-level datasets, including, advertising impression, smart TV, site visitation, and app usage.

  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.

  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

  • Standard office environment.

  • Open to Chicago, New York, or other Scripps' locations.
