Job Description:

Join a dynamic product solutions team that is responsible for developing and managing new product strategy for Cigna's Supplemental Health Solutions (SHS) product suite - including Accidental Injury, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and other new employee-paid solutions - for all sizes of employer segments including Under 500, Over 500, and National Account buyers.

The SHS organization is seeking a highly-motivated and experienced product leader to bring new product solutions and enhanced capabilities to market to drive continued growth.

This position will have primary responsibility for leading the design, development, and launch of new and innovative SHS products, enhancements, and capabilities. This position will leverage data and analytics to develop and define product requirements that meet customer needs and will be responsible for launching and maintaining a portfolio of value-driven supplemental health products. Direct responsibilities include:

Product Development Responsibilities:


  • Serves as a specialized SHS product expert to own, lead, and manage new product development

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify trends and data insights to be translated into actionable innovation opportunities to be prioritized within the Product Roadmap

  • Assess key market factors, including competitive landscape, consumer insights, and unmet customer needs to implement "best-in-class" new products and solutions


  • Utilizes product development templates and artifacts to ensure continuity in the development of new products and enhancements to future products

  • Engage with State Filing Team during innovation process and for needed contract changes are required for contract language development, filing strategy be deployed, and necessary approvals be obtained.

  • Leads and executes end-to-end operationalization and GTM delivery through pilots, targeted launches, and full product launches

  • Accountable for overall Product requirements by establishing core elements and needed configurability to meet buyer needs and provide guidance to Product requirement lead

  • Lead and advise value-chain partners including Solutions Enablement, Marketing, Actuarial, Underwriting, Sales, Account Management, Claims, Legal, Compliance, Filing, and IT to support product development efforts and implementation

  • Ensures the features, limitations, and opportunities for integration of new products are incorporated into value proposition and marketing plan

  • Establishes Product-driven project plans that align within strategic business initiatives and projects

  • Define measurements and track against business unit/segment commitments to new product development

Product Management Responsibilities


  • Provide expert, ongoing product support for key matrixed partners: Legal, Compliance, Actuarial, UW, Sales, AM, ops, claims, contracts, IT, PMO

  • Collaboratively works with SHS product team to identify and develop product solutions to address enhancement opportunities within existing product suite

  • Develop and deliver initial and necessary product training for Sales and SHS organization

Ideal candidates will offer:

  • 10 years' experience in group supplemental health product development and management

  • Demonstrated end-to-end experience in new product development and product management in a high growth environment

  • Proven ability to lead cross functional teams to achieve results in a dynamic, rapidly changing market including experience in Actuarial, UW, Claims, Legal, and Filing, and IT guidance and support of product development.

  • Excellent project management and communication skills, with demonstrated success achieving results through influencing others.

  • Hands-on experience with product form and rate filing development and support of filing submissions and objections

  • Knowledge of market research methodologies including statistics, research design, marketing and product development applications

  • Entrepreneurial - comfortable under pressure and able to bring focus to ideas that may appear unclear or ambiguous in concept.

  • Knowledge of financial components of product/general management (ROI, budgeting, etc)

  • Well developed and proven analytical skills.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate data and strategy into action.

  • Undergraduate degree required.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
