This position is part of the CTO Office and is one of the top positions for driving advanced dual-use technology development across the Aerospace and Defense and commercial business units. Key elements of the position include :
Strategic Technology Development and Incubation - Lead internally and externally funded R&D, as well as other projects, for the CTO office with a primary focus on Dual-Use Platforms and Advanced Laser Technology. Utilize deep expertise in product and technology development for these projects and others within the CTO office. Work with the internal teams as well as external consultants to evaluate, incubate, and develop new technologies and designs for new product opportunities. Lead discussions with prospective customers, partners, and suppliers to develop market and product requirements.
Strategic Partnerships, Program Capture and Management - Develop strategic partnerships, including with customers, suppliers, development partners, government agencies, etc. to accelerate development of II-VI technology platforms and accelerate growth of revenue and profitability. Lead or support program capture and management of the partnerships and initiatives.
R&D Program Oversight - Provide oversight and support for CTO Office, Aerospace and Defense, and customer funded programs. Lead, coordinate, and/or support appropriate Phase-Gate and Program Reviews.
Qualifications:
Ph.D., or M.S. in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
Must possess and have demonstrated at least 10 years in cross-functional technology and product development and program management, with a focus on lasers, opto-electronics, and subsystems.
Must possess deep and broad experience with lasers and opto-electronics and their commercial and military applications.
At least 10 years' experience in aerospace and defense developing proposals and leading programs for government agencies and government prime contractors is strongly preferred.
Must have a demonstrated track record in growth through organic R&D investments and strategic external investments or partnerships.
Must have a demonstrated entrepreneurial ability, leading technologies, and products from concept through development and commercial success.
Must possess and have demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and networking skills for interaction with customers (both internal and external), research staff, and executive management.
Experience in Intellectual Property matters preferred.
Must be a self-starter, able to multi-task, work independently and collaboratively in a matrix managed organization.
Will possess excellent analytical and technical knowledge coupled with superior leadership and interpersonal skills, management of technology skills, and a demonstrated track record in growing entrepreneurial and profitable businesses in the allied fields of opto-electronic components and sub-systems.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must hold or be able to qualify for Secret or above security clearance.
