JPMorgan Chase is seeking to hire a highly motivated individual to become a member of our Corporate Tax Planning Group. The Corporate Tax Planning Group is responsible for identifying tax issues and opportunities across the range of JPMorgan Chase's products, businesses and regions, including:
Treasury Services and Corporate Banking
Securities Services (including Custody)
Lending and Syndicated Loans
Equity and debt derivatives, structured products, and other financial products and services within the Markets division, and
JPM's Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses
Commercial Banking
Retail financial services, including retail banking and consumer lending
In addition to supporting JPMC's lines of business, the candidate will be able to serve as a general resource to the Corporate Tax Department, providing support to the Department in its role overseeing general and transactional tax planning.
Responsibilities:
Manage tax-related inquiries from a variety of the firm's businesses across established and emerging markets;
Work with Corporate Tax colleagues and relevant business teams to review tax aspects of new initiatives or expansion into new markets;
Coordinate and effectively communicate with colleagues, outside tax counsel, accounting firms, and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate tax planning, risk controls, and compliance;
Review current and potential tax legislation and regulations; and
Participate in regular Corporate Tax department meetings and development of policies and procedures relevant the businesses, including attention to reputational risk considerations.
This position reports to a Managing Director in Corporate Tax who supervises tax coverage for many of the areas described above.
Experience and Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate or non-US equivalent
At least 4-6 years of relevant tax experience at a top tier law firm with a strong tax practice (exceptional candidates with financial services industry experience at Big 4 accounting firms may be considered)
Experience with drafting and negotiating tax provisions
Experience with advising on or implementing US tax information reporting and withholding obligations a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to be self-directed
