Wm. P. Young Co., a non-affiliated company of Plastipak Packaging, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop concepts and designs for innovative, cutting-edge machines and interface with some of our customers, a group of the largest global consumer goods manufacturers. You are expected to handle multiple mechanical engineering design projects in our fast-paced environment, drive toward results, and communicate across various levels of our organization.
Responsibilities:
Design and detail machines and/or machine parts
Create/Update solid models of mechanical components and custom parts
Revise drawings per engineering changes
Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing
Assist in the preparation of machine operator manuals
Maintain system and engineering database
Provide technical training as required
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Insure continuity of design and BOM structure for the department
Comply with current governmental and safety regulations
Create assembly and detail drawings fully dimensioned and properly toleranced for manufacture
Develop specifications and methods
Confirm machine and system capabilities by performing feasibility testing
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
5-7+ years of experience designing machinery
Ability to create dimensioned detail drawings
Ability to work well with others
Ability to prepare, read, and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
