Position Summary:


This position utilizes extensive knowledge of cash application processes, customers and products to apply cash to open receivables and ensure the accuracy of customer balances, and select general ledger accounts (customer clearing, A/R, bad debt allowance, etc.). This position requires strong attention to detail as well as the ability to follow standard operating procedures, adhere to a strict timeline, particularly at month, end and to apply lockbox, credit card, and EFT payments to multiple business unit’s receivables and general ledger with accuracy. This job also supports the business unit accountants with inquiries, reporting requests and assisting with audit requests on an interim and year-end timetable. Being able to successfully communicate daily with internal, external customers and Ascend’s IT Team are a necessity. This position will be an integral part of the cash application team toward meeting individual, team and company goals.


 


Responsibilities:


• Conduct daily cash application transactions for multiple business units, handling complex transactions, corrections and situations, assist in outlining future state processes.


• Manage your time and work-load for success toward the A/R month-end, quarter-end, year-end close processes by coordinating with billing operations, cash reconciliation and the business unit accounting teams.


• Assist in the integration of new business units to roll into standard cash application processes, to include details surrounding bank accounts, credit card processing, and billing plans where needed.


• Assist with preparation of audit materials for accounts receivable and assist with the audit requests workflow.


• Assist with the cash application training process and documentation to include SOPs, while continually staying cross-trained on all BUs and specific details surrounding each.

• Perform other duties as assigned by Accounts Receivable Manager, including assistance with special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests.


 


Education & Experience:


• Two to four years of relevant accounts receivable experience; technical knowledge of billing is a plus


• Demonstrate experience with problem solving by working with various individuals within the organization and/or with customers and vendors


• Prior experience in a fast moving, frequently changing organization where it was necessary to critically prioritize tasks while demonstrating a sense of urgency to ensure deadlines were met


• An impeccable reputation and commitment to the highest standards, integrity and ethics


• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or other large ERP system is preferred


• Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Word, and Outlook)


• Professional interpersonal skills to include both written and verbal communications


• Process improvement mind-set


• Organized and Self-directed with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail


• A team player who maintains and promotes a positive outlook
