The Material Handler is responsible for receiving and transferring products in and out of the warehouse safely and efficiently, using various lifting and moving tools.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming shipments, storeroom maintenance, and inventory transfers


• Procurement assistance, item, and inventory location management


• Enter and maintain accurate transactions records in the operating ERP system(s)


• Verify items received match purchase orders or internal material requests


• Search inventory control system for locations of materials


• Pull stock to fill pick order requests


• Assist with performing regular and scheduled counts of materials on hand to verify inventory levels


• Work closely with QA on physical inspection of materials upon arrival and assist with removing and quarantining expiring materials


• Assist in training new team members as needed

Required Skills

• Aseptic handling of biological material in a laboratory environment a plus


• Knowledge of shipping and receiving


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Strong organization and attention to detail


• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel for tracking


• Ability to follow written procedures and verbal directions


• Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment


• Ability to perform independently with minimal supervision

Must-Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent


• 0-2 years’ experience in a warehouse environment


• Experience operating pallet jacks, etc.


• Valid class D driver’s license required

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

This position operates in a warehouse and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and use arms, hands and fingers for various activities. This position may stand or remain sedentary for long periods of time. This position may work with large pieces of equipment.
