As a Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in Oakland, California or Walnut Creek, California, you will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including sustainable green stormwater infrastructure planning and design; hydrologic/hydraulic analysis; surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring/modeling/management planning; industrial and construction NPDES permitting support and inspections; and Clean Water Act regulatory support for municipal and private clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES


Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Key responsibilities for the position include:



  • Water quality data collection, analysis, and modeling;

  • Performance evaluation of stormwater management facilities;

  • Erosion and sediment control design and field implementation;

  • Industrial field investigations, monitoring, data collection, and stormwater permit compliance support;

  • Construction support services including stormwater compliance inspections and stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs);

  • Technical document preparation, including technical writing and creation of exhibits and maps; and

  • Spatial analysis (GIS) and database management.


Additional responsibilities for the water resources engineer or scientist position include:



  • Stormwater BMP design (green infrastructure and other treatment systems), including feasibility assessment and preparation of preliminary through final design plan sets;

  • Water resources-related programming and data analytics; and

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.

  • Fieldwork: Up to 30%

  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE



  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or civil or environmental engineering. (required)

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, civil or environmental engineering. (preferred)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • At least 5 years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)

  • Proficiency with industrial and construction field investigations, monitoring, data collection, and stormwater permit compliance support. (required)

  • Proficiency with spatial analysis software tools such as ArcMap and ArcGIS. (required)

  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
