Job Description:

The Disability Claims Examiner is responsible for:


  • Managing an assigned block of Individual Life Insurance Waiver of Premium (ILI WOP) disability claims.

  • Evaluating claimant eligibility.

  • Analyzing, rendering, and communicating claim determinations for contestable and non-contestable cases.

  • Providing excellent customer service.

  • Utilizing specialty consulting resources effectively including medical, legal, and/or vocational staffs to achieve optimal outcomes.

  • Interacting with internal and external customers including, but not limited to, claimants, brokers, physicians, attorneys, and underwriters to gather necessary data for claim determinations

  • Providing technical direction to other claims personnel as needed.

  • Monitoring claim accuracy and timeliness.

Additional responsibilities include:


  • Documenting claim information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Understanding and applying policy provisions.

  • Reviewing medical records.

What you will need to succeed:


  • A minimum of 1-2 years of disability claims adjudication.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A detail-oriented focus and exceptional time management skills.

  • Ability to adapt, problem solve quickly and communicate effective solutions.

  • Proficiency with PC-based programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Continuous improvement mindset coupled with a knack for managing initiatives simultaneously.

  • A commitment to support a work environment that fosters Diversity and Inclusion.

It would be a plus if you have:


  • Waiver of Premium Experience.

  • Strong Mathematical Skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Note: Prudential is required by Colorado law to include the salary range for this role when hiring a Colorado resident.

Salary range specific to Colorado: $49,200 - $66,700 + discretionary incentive bonus + benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
