What you will do

The Plant Operations Manager develops, implements and administers production requirements to satisfy customer’s demand and objectives set for by Johnson Controls. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

How you will do it


  • Coordinate with all support department managers the short term and long-term requirements to achieve a Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, 5s and Morale. Promote a work environment to achieve with strategies a World Class Manufacturing Chiller plant with a high customer and investor’s service satisfaction.

  • Determine the head count requirements in all workstations and assembly lines to maintain a high level of efficiency and minimized overtime (working in conjunction with Manufacturing engineering, Production Control and Continues improvement team)       

  • Supervises Production Managers assigned to each factory for all shifts.

  • Supervises Maintenance Coordinators assigned to each factory (Manufacturing Engineer Manager and CBRE).

  • Establishes and tracks annual production department budget through a score card, controlling the most important expenses.

  • Authorizes and controls the purchasing process for high cost tools and spare parts (Manage budget and conjunction with CI Manager and Plant Controller).

  • Support all Kaizens / Cost improvement initiatives within the Production, Materials departments.

  • Responsible to implement, with the support from the fundamental training department, the High Performance Work Teams strategy.

  • Supervises daily production control meetings and ensure data is up to date on boards (CCCs = Cell control center by production area on Safety 5s Quality, Attainment, Productivity / Cost and People).

  • Ensure that all the safety, quality, manufacturing and human development systems operate in an efficient and timely manner. (Through PCC – Plant Control Center daily board review MTD updated metrics and actions plan)   

  • Make sure that all the system certifications and audits are attained.  

  • Manage day in the life to achieve 80/20 (80% floor presence though Gemba walks) (20% administrative work.     

What we look for

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of Plant Management experience.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the areas of production, manufacturing and maintenance.

  • Exceptional problem-solving fundamental skills – 5 why’s and 8d methodology.

  • Experience and extensive training in world class manufacturing techniques including Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing with a history of substantive improvements in operational performance.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.

  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite.

  • Strong customer service attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% per year.

Preferred:


  • Master’s degree.
