Who You Are...  

As a Senior Systems Architect at LB Foster, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, health, and architecture of the windows server environment throughout the company. The position will be responsible for ensuring that the windows server environment and related platforms and systems run smoothly, are properly maintained, are consistently improved, and are supporting the needs of the business in the near term, but also with an evolving plan. The position will be responsible for finding deficiencies and opportunities for improvements and for planning and executing re-architecture initiatives to improve. 

This Position...  

will be part of a larger team of network and security infrastructure professionals and will report to the Director, Security and Enterprise Architecture.

Some examples of the work you might do...  


  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.

  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.

  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.

  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.

  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance management of the systems architecture and administration.

  • Manage the patching program and assure 100% compliance for all network connected devices.

  • Use industry best practices to drive the evolution of L.B. Foster’s technology stack.

  • Work directly with business teams to architect and design solutions that drive a competitive advantage at L.B. Foster.

What Do You Need...  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, preferred

  • 10 Years’ experience in IT Systems administration, Systems Architecture required

  • 8 - 10 Years’ experience in Microsoft Platform administration and architecture required

  • 5+ years’ experience in Enterprise-wide Server deployments required

  • 3+ years’ experience in hybrid cloud server environments required

  • Experience with these platforms are desirable skills:

    • Lansweeper

    • NetCrunch

    • AzureAD

    • Intune

    • Azure

    • HyperV



  • Ability to work with and manage the following technology stacks:

    • Microsoft Windows Server platforms (2012 R2+) and related products

    • Storage

    • Backup and Recovery

    • Terminal Server / VDI environments

    • Group Policy

    • Active Directory

    • Server Patching, Software deployment, software maintenance

    • Server operating system deployment, maintenance, lifecycle management

    • Integration, Migration and Divestiture related projects

    • PowerShell Scripting, automation

    • VMWare



  • SQL query writing is a preferred skill
