This position provides the opportunity to be part of the Banking Application Development Team in a Support role of global applications. The App Dev team is accountable for the systems being available during the required business times, as well as their stability, hygiene and compliance with all standards. The role will proactively monitor the health of the applications regarding SDLC standards and Automation, Infrastructure stability in terms of hardware and software component lifecycles. Will include Vendor interactions for versioning/upgrades of 3rd party software platforms. This person will liaise with Production Management team as a Level 3 support coordinator for the Application Development team. Additional responsibilities will include aspects of Change Management, Application Owner, and Risk/Controls, all from the App Dev team perspective. A successful Application Dev Support team member needs to possess technology savvy, business acumen, strong communication and internal customer service skills to manage changing priorities and demands.
Objectives
Support the Application Development team as a whole, bridging tasks between Developers, Analysts and Infrastructure team mates.
Manage Risk/Control reviews and surveys, as well as associated Breaks & Remedies.
Oversee Hygiene, Access Uplift and various improvement programs across portfolio.
Understand the production environment, including software platforms and hardware ecosystems, and a practical understanding of JPM internal applications
Maintain Global relationships with various other support teams as well as business users
Maintain and manage application and infrastructure availability with resiliency discipline, with inherent capability to perform complex issue investigation and resolution across wide range of applications
Perform effective escalation of critical production environment incidents and proactively identify patterns of recurring incidents to improve service capabilities
Develop and utilize core tools and processes to perform daily function whilst improving day to day practices for the global Treasury & CIO production management group .
Must be able to resolve problems, escalate effectively and break through barriers that hinder progress
Responsibilities
Work as part of the organization to deliver against core business objectives and ensure delivering of business functionality and stability
Support Change Management and release deployment activities into the production environment
Develop strong relationships with resolver teams, application development teams, and other upstream and downstream support teams
Develop strong technical expertise in technology and associated applications to understand the applications across the production domain
Develop, document, and maintain best practice policies to ensure knowledge retention and continuous learning within team
Perform and seek to continuously improve the monitoring of the application environment and supporting infrastructure
Participate in incident and crisis management events, supporting resolution activities and providing regular status updates and define/track remediation actions to close
Participate in weekend support and testing around key deployments and business continuity exercises
S kills and Knowledge Required
Must be able to multi-task in a complex production environment and quickly acquire broad knowledge of applications.
Exemplary communication skills both written and verbal
Familiarity with SDLC components - GIT/Stash/Bitbucket, versioning, build and deployment processes
Self-starter with confidence to drive issues through to completion in highly pressured environment
Strong problem management and problem investigation skills with ability to learn new skills quickly
Multi-disciplined technology skills encompassing:
Unix (RedHat Linux) skills including Unix Shell Scripting
Database knowledge - Sybase, Oracle or MSQL, including SQL and Stored Procedures
Knowledge of java based application development a plus
Essential Experience
6 years working in a Development and/or Infrastructure/Support capacity in a time sensitive environment,
Familiarity with the Unix and Windows Operating system and environment
Financial institution experience or exposure a plus
