Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Incentive Compensation will play a critical role in leading, developing and operationalizing the field sales incentive compensation program at Exact Sciences. This position is responsible for partnering with key stakeholders as a strategic business partner to create and recommend an incentive compensation (IC) program that is fair, compliant and in alignment with corporate objectives. This position will provide expert advice and counsel on incentive plan design, administration, and benchmark to ensure alignment with the incentive compensation philosophy while driving the brand strategy.

This position is remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Lead the strategic design and administration of all field-based compensation programs that recognize and reward employee performance and drive business results.
  • Drive the sales force incentive compensation philosophy for Exact Sciences by partnering with and driving consensus from senior management.

  • Develop SPIFF policies to drive fairness across business units and products.

  • Benchmark sales incentive plan designs and ensures local market competitiveness.

  • Directly and indirectly manage a team that designs and implements the field incentive compensation plans.

  • Interface with commercial management to determine business objectives to create IC design options that align with corporate strategy and serves as a subject-matter expert for incentive plans.

  • Manage the development of incentive plans by driving the discussion among sales leadership and designing the analyses to evaluate plans design options and ensures IC administration is in line with corporate compliance standards.

  • Recommend IC plan designs and reviews and finalizes plans with management.

  • Manage the implementation of IC plans and coordinates deployment of strategy with related areas, such as operations and sales management.

  • Creates presentation material for the communication, training, and review of IC Program.

  • Manage the communication and training of incentive compensation plans.

  • Lead senior management and key stakeholders through the approval of incentive plans.

  • Partner with commercial organization to ensure the IC production scheduled is communicated within the department.

  • Partner internally to ensure the IC budget is managed appropriately and accruals are timely and accurate.

  • Provide ongoing monitoring and analysis of incentive plans.

  • Team with technology partners to define system business specifications and automate performance reporting and incentive calculations.

  • Perform research and analysis of incentive compensation programs in support of business objectives.

  • Perform quality control measures to ensure high level of accuracy.

  • Manage field inquiries related to incentive compensation.

  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize, and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.

  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.

  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.

  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.

  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.

  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to travel 15% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or field as outlined in essential duties.

  • 10+ years in the field of incentive compensation or commercial operations.

  • 2+ years of experience leading people.

  • Demonstrated knowledge establishing sales operations strategies, such as design of incentives and compensation plans.

  • Demonstrated understanding and application of quota setting methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, problem solve and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives with excellent project planning and execution skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or field as outlined in essential duties.

  • Experience in the healthcare industry.

  • Experience working with co-promotion partners.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical data.
