Director of Supply Chain

We are looking for a committed, steady, and thoughtful Supply Chain leader that can serve as a player-coach to develop a world-class supply chain department for a growing building materials company.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Company General Manager, the Director of Supply Chain is responsible for designing, directing, and planning all aspects of supply chain transformation, systems, initiatives, policies, and objectives. In this role, the Supply Chain leader will be responsible for overseeing activities associated with demand and production planning, customer service, service analytics, inventory control, warehousing, logistics, and transportation; as well as, building a high performance team to optimize throughput, inventory, service, and related costs.

This key leadership role will ensure on-time deliveries to customers, identify and execute procurement savings, work with the team to optimize production and delivery schedules, and lead the supply chain department to act in a highly communicative way with internal and external customers. Additionally, s/he will maintain continuity and connection with suppliers to continuously identify, propose, and execute cost savings while improving inventory turns throughout the supplier base.

Responsibilities


  • As a member of the senior leadership team, provide insight and propose solutions to meet strategic and tactical objectives of the group, particularly around supply chain and customer service.

  • Partner closely with sales, product development, manufacturing, finance, and other functions to build and optimize upstream and downstream processes, forecasts, and the budget. Identify gaps and disconnects in the product, demand, supply, and finance plans. Create and implement strategies to proactively resolve issues and adjust to un/planned fluctuations in the business.

  • Actively and continuously identify opportunities to eliminate wastes in supply chain processes.

  • Develop and regularly report on and OTIF, CSI, PPV, DSO/DIO, and other relevant KPIs; as well as, continuous improvement action plans.

  • Coach and mentor supply chain team to create a world-class department, as well as, maintain close engagement within the department’s everyday activities to ensure success for our people and customers

  • Utilize statistical forecasting, historical performance trends, management forecasts/budgets, new product development plans, and financial objectives to develop and implement demand planning, forecasting, inventory, and production plans.

  • Work with demand planning team and customer service to optimize, publish, and communicate schedules with production teams and customers.

  • Develop weekly production and purchase plans for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; while ensuring the highest levels of service at lowest possible costs


  • Lead procurement team to regularly evaluate and work with suppliers to eliminate disruption, diversify for better purchasing, and improve quality and delivery performance.

  • Ensure material availability for manufacturing, while continuously improving inventory turns

  • Support team during CAPEX projects to improve deliveries and reduce purchasing costs

  • Work with the team to continuously improve tools and MRP systems.

Education/Experience Requirements


  • Excellent quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills required

  • Specific experience in S&OP, demand and supply planning required

  • Demonstrated ability in performing in a fast-paced, changing, and demanding environment required

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience required

  • MBA and/or Supply Chain Management specialization preferred

  • Familiarity with LEAN concepts and tools preferred

  • APICS or CPSM certification preferred

  • Experience with Infor M4 preferred
