The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Plant Engineering Technical in the Maintenance Department, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.


  • Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying and adjusting electrical power distribution systems, electrical equipment, and electrical control devices used in production, laboratory, office, and utility areas.

  • Keeping current with code revisions as stipulated in the National Electrical Code and Local Electrical Codes.

  • Reads and works to the indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blueprints, sketches, equipment manual, and vendor diagrams.

  • Program/troubleshoot using programmable logic controllers

  • Completes required shop paperwork and uses reporting system following established procedures. This includes documenting daily work, assigning time to PM and work orders, completing accurate stock withdrawals and maintaining other forms and records that may be required in the performance of the job or operation of the department.

Your Skills and Expertise 
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:


  • Possess a two (2) year, Technical degree or diploma from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start).

  • Ability to work occasional overtime as needed and a 12-hour night shift.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in the construction, installation, testing, repairing, modification, and adjustment of electrical power distribution systems, lighting systems, AC and DC motors, and control.

  • Experience with PLC programming using software such as Allen Bradley, TI and Siemens. 

  • Current State of Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician's License or a Master Electrician's License.

  • Robotic Programming and Trouble Shooting Experience with Fanuc and Kuka robots

  • Ability to fabricate, assemble and optimize mechanical equipment
