Job Responsibilities
 
Designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing. Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new products. Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
 
The Pilot engineering team partners with Pilot manufacturing and HVM manufacturing to transition new products into the HVM factory. 
The Pilot Test engineer develops and deploys manufacturing process documentation, creates and updates visual instructions in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in accordance with engineering specifications, and develops and implements revised testing strategies to optimize cycle time and labor hours.  Develops and deploys hardware and software through scripting language to allow for the automated testing and characterization of complex electro mechanical assemblies.  Designs and deploys test fixtures to enable testing and characterization.

Other Job Responsibilities
In this role, scripting of existing test methods in Lam's proprietary testing language or in Python will be the primary focus.  Responsibilities will include translation of manual test procedures that are used in development into scripts that can be run in an automated fashion as the product is readied for transition into the HVM factory, developing strategies and methods to determine which tests are appropriate to be automated, and working to develop and deploy test methods that can be moved upstream into the manufacturing process to occur during assembly or in parallel with the assembly process. 
Scripting and automation experience must be partnered with a solid foundation in engineering disciplines, as the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of product testing, experience in troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical assemblies, and experience in a manufacturing environment where lean principles, cycle time, and labor hours are all critical variables in the overall test process, as well as a background and necessary skills in automation and scripting

Minimum Qualifications
Experience/Education required:


  • Bachelors degree or higher in an engineering discipline required, electrical or mechanical preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in designing and deploying test methods or test fixtures

Preferred Qualifications
Skills required:


  • Proven track record of problem solving and critical thinking skills in resolving electro-mechanical issues
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics, 2D/3D models, technical data sheets
  • Driven, highly organized, strong attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork skills and strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Experience with the design and implementation of electro-mechanical test fixtures
  • Understanding of software/firmware applications, communications (serial, RS232/485, ethernet network, object oriented programming)
  • Python
