The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist provides supportive services to participants with mental health challenges and/or dual diagnosis with IDD. Position requires incumbent(s) to support participants with difficulty self-regulating their emotions. Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialists focuses on long term residential supportive living to reach personal quality of life.



Responsibilities/Duties




  • Provides psychiatric rehabilitation services to program participant(s). Some participants may have additional challenging medical needs.

  • Implements, models and documents all clinical, behavioral and safety interventions, as described in the participant's plan.

  • Support participant(s) in maintaining ongoing communication with members of their support services team to ensure all needs are met.

  • Submit daily documentation of services, including behavioral/clinical data and billing activities to supervisor.

  • Attend trainings, as required by regulations and the clinical support team. In addition, attend professional development training, to remain at optimal skill level.

  • Supports the implementation and delivery of behavioral, clinical and safety interventions, as directed by the guiding clinician.

  • Assist with light housekeeping and meal prep for participant.



Required Experience




  • Five years of work experience in mental health/IDD direct services. An applicant with prior Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services preferred. An applicant with CPRP certification is a plus, but not required.

  • Use of Hoyer Lift transferring participant in and out of bed required. May be required to provide assistance to participant dressing, toileting and in their daily mobility. Two staff work together as a team to accomplish many of these requirements.

  • Work within a Person-Center, Trauma-Informed environment. Emphasis on participant comfort vs control and need to meet self-imposed goals.



Required Education



  • Associates degree in social services, Bachelor's degree preferred.


Required Qualifications




  • Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft products for documentation and reporting.

  • Position requires personal characteristics such as patience and calm demeanor in a challenging situation. Participant may exhibit aggressive and self-injurious behaviors.

  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required.

  • Subject to mandated employment screenings, including FBI clearance, where warranted.
