Job Title: IT Technician I, II, III, IV

Reports to: IT Helpdesk Supervisor

Department: Information Technology

Exempt: Non-Exempt:

Job Summary:

The IT Technician provides general user support and hardware maintenance of workstations and related peripherals as well as to assist with configuration and support of IT systems. This position provides support to remote and on-site users.

Responsibilities (Specific tasks, duties, essential functions of the job)

IT Technician I


  • General user support for hardware and software including maintenance of workstations and related peripherals.

  • Assist with configuration and support of IT systems.

  • Provide support to remote and on-site users.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

  • Assist with any other duties as assigned.

IT Technician II

In addition to items listed for IT Technician Ian IT Technician II may also be responsible for the following.


  • Respond to helpdesk tickets as assigned and be the first level of escalation.

  • Create and maintain Active Directory accounts.

  • Create and maintain workstation images.

  • Work directly with vendor technical support to resolve hardware and software issues.

  • Creates and documents IT procedures for client support, workstation configuration, and other IT processes.

  • Identify potential global issues in hardware, software, and configurations based upon escalated tickets that need to be reviewed by the team.

  • Work on maintenance tickets to help prevent future issues as well as keeping systems updated.

  • Test, troubleshoot, and work with users on new Windows patch releases to ensure there will be no interruption to daily productivity.

IT Technician III

In addition to items listed for IT Technician IIan IT Technician III may also be responsible for the following.


  • Respond to helpdesk tickets as assigned and be the second level of escalation.

  • Maintain IT knowledge base database.

  • Dispose of obsolete equipment and ensure inventory is up to date.

  • Manage helpdesk requests including assigning tickets to appropriate technicians.

  • May be required to travel.

IT Technician IV

In addition to items listed for IT Technician IIIan IT Technician IV may also be responsible for the following.


  • Respond to helpdesk tickets as assigned and be the third level of escalation.

  • Source and recommend client hardware and software.

  • Work with management on performance metrics and evaluate data on needed improvements and changes.

  • Review and audit tickets to ensure proper documentation and procedures are followed.

  • Review and execute requested audit actions on user access and accounts.

Qualifications (Experience and Education)



















Level I


IT Technician I



*Associates degree, preferred.


*Relevant IT Certification (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified, etc), preferred.


*0-3 years' experience in a corporate IT environment (Desktop services, network services, and/or server/storage services), required.


*Basic knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory, required.


*A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Level II


IT Technician II



*Associates degree, preferred.


*Relevant IT Certification (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified, etc), preferred.


*3-5 years' experience in a corporate IT environment (Desktop services, network services, and/or server/storage services), required.


*Intermediate knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory (Required).


*A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Level III


IT Technician III



*Associates degree or relevant IT Certification (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified, etc), required.


*5-7 years' experience in a corporate IT environment (Desktop services, network services, and/or server/storage services), required.


*Intermediate knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory (Required).


*A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Level IV


IT Technician IV



*Associates degree or relevant IT Certification (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified, etc), required.


*7+ years' experience in a corporate IT environment (Desktop services, network services, and/or server/storage services), required.


*Advanced knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory (Required).


*A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
