Job Description:

The Space Systems Sector is seeking an experienced Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer to join the team in Morrisville, NC or in Aurora, CO.
This position is to work with an Agile team in creating and implementing an approach to automated testing in a software CI/CD pipeline. The successful applicant will be part of a team developing an automated testing approach to ensure compliance to the requirements baseline. In addition, responsibilities may include coordinating and conducting system engineering activities (e.g. SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, etc.) and other ground segment support activities.

The ideal candidate synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations. Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results. Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Work as a member of an agile software development test team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment learning new tools and processes
  • Test new software applications in Linux cloud environment and verify software interconnections.
  • Validate software requirements through functional, usability, performance, security, compatibility, ad-hoc, internationalization and regression tests
  • Develop, maintain and execute test plans and procedures for software systems
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings, decision-making and technical discussion
  • Review user stories, backlog items, analyze testability of requirements and provide feedback
  • Apply analytical and problem solving skills to clarify user stories and determine appropriate testing scenarios to validate the iterative development of products against functional and technical specifications
  • Identify and track software defects during sprint cycles
  • Timely identification of issues and effectively communicate impact to software developers, project managers, and appropriate parties to facilitate issue resolutions
  • Demonstrate software capabilities at the completion of sprints to key stakeholders to ensure solutions meet customer requirements
  • Work closely with development teams to define new product functionality
  • Conduct test case reviews and ensure all test activities are properly executed and documented according to our client's standards
  • Create automated test cases
  • Troubleshoot and isolate software failures
  • Clearly identify and document defects, and collaborate with the development team to prioritize bugs until resolution
  • Articulate open issues and risks in a timely manner to management and make recommendations





Qualifications:



Basic Qualifications:
• 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active or current TS/SCI and have the ability to maintain SCI level access.
• Integration and test experience in an Agile, DevOps environment.
• Strong knowledge of/experience creating automated test to sell off and validate requirements
• Strong knowledge of/experience creating tests to support CI/CD operations.
• Knowledge of/experience in traditional defense testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of software systems developed in an AWS environment.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance or higher (required to start).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with virtualization, messaging techniques, and associated technologies.
• Experience with Ground Systems (space or satellite knowledge highly preferred).
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum practices and traditional waterfall projects.
• Experience using software version control such as Git (GitLab or BitBucket).
• Experience using Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket.
• Familiarity with Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Architecture Services and ActiveMQ
• Experience with Jenkins/Robot

Salary range for a Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer in Aurora, CO is $108,864-$163,296.
